Busan Korean restaurant for milmyeon and pork soup: Sanbandeul

I visited Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch, located on Seomyeon's Jeonpo Café Street.

It is well known for its pork soup, but I heard it had also introduced milmyeon for the summer season, so I went in with high expectations. I spotted it while looking for somewhere to eat in Seomyeon, and there were so many menu choices that I could try a variety of things.

Tucked inside Jeonpo Café Street, it was easy to stop by while going between Seomyeon and Jeonpo. The walk there was enjoyable amid the alley's stylish atmosphere, and the restaurant was easy to spot even when passing nearby, so I arrived without getting lost.

It was naturally easy to include in a stroll around Jeonpo Café Street, and with plenty of other cafés and shops nearby, it was also nice to wander around after the meal.

A comfortable setting for solo diners and groups

The open kitchen let me see the cooking process clearly, which gave the place a hygienic feel. There were solo seats and bar seats too, making it an easy place to visit alone.

Further inside, there were tables large enough for several people, so it looked comfortable for dining with companions as well.

It seemed especially suited to anyone looking for a solo pork soup meal in Seomyeon. The entire restaurant was neatly kept and comfortable throughout the meal, and the lighting and generous spacing between tables meant it never felt cramped.

Complimentary sikhye before the meal

As soon as I sat down, they brought over complimentary sikhye, a sweet rice drink. It was cool and not overly sweet, so it felt like it freshened up my palate, and drinking it before the meal gently whetted my appetite.

That small gesture made for a pleasant start to the meal.

How were the water milmyeon and spicy mixed milmyeon?

That day, I ordered one water milmyeon and one spicy mixed milmyeon.

The water milmyeon, cold wheat noodles in broth, had a refreshing, clean-tasting soup that felt soothing in hot weather,

while the spicy mixed milmyeon had seasoning that was not harsh but still full of savory depth, so I kept reaching for it.

I had found this place by searching for milmyeon in Seomyeon, and it exceeded my expectations. The noodles were chewy and springy, so I was happy with both versions, and the toppings added texture that kept them enjoyable right to the end.

For something more substantial, I also ordered the pork soup and fried chicken set.

The rich pork soup came with karaage-style fried chicken, making it a satisfying meal.

The pork soup broth was deep and rich, with plenty of tender meat and vegetables, which made every bite interesting.

The fried chicken was crisp outside and moist inside, making it a great side. With the pork soup, it became an even heartier meal, and the generous portion left me full.

I also ordered the small sampler of charcoal-grilled boiled pork, which is house-made jambon grilled directly over the flame.

It had a subtle smoky aroma and tender texture, making it good alongside either milmyeon or pork soup.

The small size made it easy to add without feeling like too much, and it was just the right amount to share alongside the other dishes.

It was nicely seasoned without being salty, so it paired well with the pork soup and milmyeon rather than competing with them.
