Yakitori set with mentaiko cream pasta at Changwon bar: Yakitori Gong
In short
Yakitori Gong is a charcoal yakitori izakaya on the 3rd floor of Urban Bricks in Jungdong, Changwon. The writer ordered a 3-skewer yakitori and mentaiko cream pasta set with beer, then added 6 more skewers because the smoky char was that good. With wood-tone interiors and a baby chair on hand, it works for dates, friend hangouts, and family dinners alike.

Yakitori Gong sits on the 3rd floor of Urban Bricks in Jungdong, Changwon. The building's pretty big so you might get a bit lost at first, but once you're inside Urban Bricks, just head up to the 3rd floor and follow the signs. The exterior alone is clean and full of atmosphere — good vibes before you even walk in ੈ✩‧₊˚

What's the vibe like? Wood-tone interior, even a baby chair
Step inside and you immediately get that Japanese-izakaya feeling. Soft lighting, wood-tone interior — warm and cozy! Overall clean but full of atmosphere, so it worked great for drinks with friends or a date ⊹˚. ♡

There's also a baby chair on hand 👶🏻 so visiting with a kid isn't a hassle at all. Could work fine as a family dinner spot too :)

What we ordered: 3-skewer yakitori + mentaiko cream pasta set
The menu lineup was solid. After some deliberating, we went with the 3-skewer yakitori + mentaiko cream pasta set and a cold beer ~! From yakitori to mentaiko cream pasta, the pairing as bar snacks was a total success 🤭

Right after ordering, they set out the basic side dishes immediately! Cabbage + tomato with nutty roasted peanuts 🥜 — simple to pick at, perfect for nibbling while waiting on the mains.

The beer showed up first. At a bar, you gotta sip while you wait for the food, that's just how it's done haha.

Cheers ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ A cold refreshing sip, and my stomach's officially ready -

Mentaiko scallop cream pasta, with scallop, ₩10,000s
The mentaiko scallop cream pasta 🍝 came out first. Thick, rich cream sauce with mentaiko (marinated pollock roe) mixed in — mouthwatering just looking at it. And it even comes with scallop for ₩10,000s — such great value!

One bite in, the smooth cream and the salty punch of the mentaiko made a perfect match for a beer! Plenty of sauce too, so it coated the noodles well, and the scallop was so tender and delicious. If you like cream pasta, this one's a safe, tasty pick :)

3-skewer yakitori, grilled right there over charcoal
You can actually watch them grill the yakitori over charcoal, which made for fun to watch too 🔥 Seeing the skewers turn golden-brown right in front of you made even the wait feel exciting haha.

First out of the 3 skewers: chicken heart and chicken skin! Grilled golden over charcoal with that gentle smoky char .. 🔥 The heart had an addictive chewy texture, and the chicken skin was crispy outside, chewy inside — an obvious match with beer.

Last of the three: chicken thigh/neck meat! 🍢 Mild but with a nutty flavor that builds the more you chew — the kind of thing your hand keeps reaching for as a drinking snack haha. Personally, this was my favorite of the three 🤍

Adding 6 more yakitori skewers
The yakitori was so full of smoky char that we ended up ordering 6 more skewers and ate our fill. Each type had a different texture, so it was fun trying them one by one ~ If you're stopping in for a first round of drinks, or want to try a bunch of varieties, I'd recommend going for the 6-skewer set too.

In summary: who should visit
If you're looking for a good-vibe izakaya in Jungdong, Changwon, I'd recommend Yakitori Gong 🍢 Each skewer really delivers that charcoal-smoke flavor, and the range of snack menus made it a great spot for drinks. The atmosphere was good enough for a date or a night out with friends too! If you want tasty yakitori with a drink in Jungdong, Yakitori Gong is my pick.
