Gogigaondang is a grade-1 female pork belly cauldron-lid BBQ spot run by a mother with 40 years of Korean cooking experience and her son, a chef with 15 years behind him!!! It's famous at my company as THE go-to spot for team dinners, and I kept saying I'd go, I'd go... and finally made it there!!
Now I can recommend Gogigaondang without hesitation as the cauldron-lid BBQ spot in Dongtan 😁 And it's not just the meat that's good — the side dishes are 100% handmade, and most of the ingredients are grown by the owners themselves at Ondang Farm. A truly genuine gem ❤️

What are the interior and the 20-person group tables like?

The interior of Gogigaondang Dongtan Branch is clean and the tables have plenty of room, so it's perfect for meals with friends, family outings, or company dinners! There's a big partition down the middle that splits the space into two sections, each fitting around 20 people for group dining — really convenient.

A 74-year-old cauldron lid!!! That's insane.

There's also a neat self-serve bar, and canned drinks so you can have coffee after your meal! You could tell every little detail was thought through 👍
Gogigaondang's menu and side dish spread

The menu at Gogigaondang basically covers fresh pork belly and fresh pork neck, both aged from grade-1 female pork! The owner was seriously proud of the meat and side dishes, and once you taste it, you get why.

The side dishes are also made from produce grown at Ondang Farm, and they're so good...!!!!!! Of course, everything is domestically sourced.
Eating cauldron-lid pork belly at Gogigaondang: how was it?

The side dishes at a BBQ restaurant matter a surprising amount, right? From wrap lettuce to myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), scallion salad, and various sauces, there was a really diverse spread of side dishes that go great with the meat!!!

The basic table setting was really impressive :) Scallion salad, various namul and pickled vegetables, house-made kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken fern, and even mukguksu (acorn jelly noodles) — a spread that pairs so well with meat that my chopsticks kept reaching for it even before the meat arrived haha. These days a lot of places just buy in their side dishes, so making everything from scratch like this is really impressive!!!!

The moment the meat came out, the thickness alone won me over haha. I prefer thick-cut pork belly over thin, so it passed the visual test right away! They laid the meat on the piping-hot cauldron lid and it sizzled — insane.

Best of all, the staff grill the meat for you!!! And they're incredibly skilled at it 😍 They sear the outside golden brown while keeping the inside juicy, so the meat stays full of flavor — so delicious!!!!

It's great dipped lightly in salt to taste the meat on its own, and even better wrapped with myeongi namul, lettuce, and kimchi — insane!!!!! The kimchi grilled in the oil gets a little crispy with that tangy edge, cutting through the richness of the meat — basically, the meat itself is so good that it tastes amazing no matter how you eat it 😆
