Half raw, half seasoned makchang in Seomyeon, Busan: Taeyeong
In short
Taeyeong Saengmakchang Bujeon-jeom is a makchang (grilled pork intestine) restaurant in an alley near Bujeon Market in Seomyeon, Busan. Two servings each of raw pork makchang and seasoned pork makchang came half-and-half, pre-grilled and served with shredded scallion and pickled radish, with a fish cake soup arriving before the meat. The makchang at Taeyeong Saengmakchang had no gamey smell and tasted nutty and rich — worth a return visit once the weather turns cold.

Taeyeong Saengmakchang Bujeon-jeom

A new makchang restaurant in the alleys by Bujeon Market, Seomyeon
Friends!! I think fall has arrived haha ~ after working out, when the weather gets cool, grilled makchang (grilled pork intestine) just sounds so good >_< ~~ so I begged my husband and we went out for dinner on a weekday. Me nagging every day, him caving every day — what a pair haha ~~
Anyway, I went to Taeyeong Saengmakchang Bujeon-jeom, a new makchang spot in Seomyeon ..! It's new but it's a franchise with locations all over already, so the taste is guaranteed ~~~
Inside Taeyeong Saengmakchang: folding doors and open-air seating

The inside looks like this, and where I sat had the folding doors fully open, so it felt like open-air outdoor seating. The weather's gotten cooler, perfect for enjoying this exact season ♥ You know this is the shortest season. Let's enjoy it quick before it slips away.
Tablet ordering and the signature grilled raw makchang

You can order from the table using a tablet! And the signature dish at this Seomyeon makchang spot is, just as the name says, grilled raw makchang !!! It comes pre-grilled, so when you finish grilling it well, it's crispy outside and the more you grill it the softer and more savory it gets, apparently. Even makchang beginners can enjoy it just fine, and there was no gamey smell at all.. ♡

How to get to Taeyeong Saengmakchang from Seomyeon Station
I really should quit draft beer but.. the beer after exercising tastes too good ㅠ can't quit ...... . . ... Walk from Exit 12 of Seomyeon Station toward Bujeon Market, and with Ob Coffee Salon on your right, you'll see it straight ahead in the alley ...! We both agreed that after working out, having makchang with alcohol is totally fair game, so we left the car at home haha ㅋㅋ ㅋㅋ We're only this in sync at times like this ~ ^^
Side dishes and the fish cake soup that comes first

Chili peppers, garlic, pickled radish, and various makchang dipping sauces all came out..!

And then shredded scallion and fish cake soup too >,< ~ Since the makchang comes pre-grilled, the fish cake soup arrives before it !!!! It matched perfectly with the cooler weather, so we had it with soju-and-beer mix haha.
Before the makchang is grilled, there were side dishes to enjoy as anju (drinking snacks), like Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef), or a refreshing spicy tanguri ramyeon made with crab and chili, and doenjang stew too. They say the doenjang stew is special because it's made with Korean beef, giving it a deeper flavor.

A glass of draft beer is ₩3,900.. ♥
Makchang prices and order rules: 10,000 won a serving, 3 to start

- Raw pork makchang ₩10,000
- Seasoned pork makchang ₩10,000
There's raw and seasoned makchang, ₩10,000 per serving. One serving is 120g, and the first order must be at least 3 servings, with additional orders from 2 servings up. If you want to split it half-and-half like we did, you have to order 4 servings! So we ordered 2 servings of raw makchang and 2 servings of seasoned makchang ~ Besides makchang, they also have a raw pork belly menu.
How the raw and seasoned makchang tasted half-and-half

Usually you're supposed to eat the raw makchang first, to enjoy its natural savory flavor, before moving on to the seasoned one, but we just ate both together >,< It was more fun eating a bit of everything ~~ Once the makchang got golden brown and grilled, having it with soju was such a great way to end the day haha.

We ate it with the shredded scallion, and with the pickled radish too ~

And the seasoned makchang comes with shredded scallion too! We mixed it in with the seasoning. The savoriness of the makchang plus the umami of the seasoning made for an even better combo.

Cheers with soju ~

We cleaned up the raw makchang completely ~! And we polished off two bottles of soju too !!!! Hehe, what a healing weekday ~! If you're looking for a tasty makchang spot in Seomyeon with no gamey smell, I recommend Taeyeong Saengmakchang Bujeon-jeom. I'll come back again once it gets chillier. It was delicious ~~~ ♥
