Pear and rice granita at Geumsong Deokmi, a Haeundae dessert café

In short

Geumsong Deokmi Haeridan-gil Branch is a dessert café on the second floor at the start of Haeridan-gil in Haeundae, Busan, a 3-minute walk from Haeundae Station Exit 4. With Korean melon season over, our family ordered the pear and rice granita for 8,000 won and the lemon granita for 7,500 won, along with Oreo cheesecake, fig tiramisu and a decaf royal vanilla bean latte. The flavours were still on my mind back in Seoul, so Geumsong Deokmi is an easy dessert pick during a Busan trip.

When I was planning my Busan trip, a coworker recommended a café I absolutely had to visit — she said the melon granita there was so good she couldn't not recommend it!

Sadly melon season had ended by the time we visited, but the desserts were still amazing, so I really want to recommend this place to anyone stuck deciding on a café in Haeundae's Haeridan-gil. It's called "Geumsong Deokmi Haeundae Haeridan-gil Branch."

Where is Geumsong Deokmi on Haeridan-gil in Haeundae?

Exterior of Geumsong Deokmi at the entrance of Haeridan-gil

A 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Haeundae Station, right at the entrance of Haeridan-gil! Even the exterior gives off an emotional, exotic vibe. Let's head up to the second floor.

Inside the second floor and the terrace at Geumsong Deokmi

Second-floor seating at Geumsong Deokmi filled with customers

We visited around 1pm on a Sunday, and most of the seats were already full — clearly a popular spot. The warm, emotional interior really stood out.

The window seats especially were gorgeous, with Haeridan-gil and sunlight streaming in through the huge glass windows ❤️

There's also a restroom inside the store, which was really convenient.

Self-serve bar and memo note corner at Geumsong Deokmi

In the middle of the store there's a self-serve bar along with memo notes prepared — a spot where customers can draw their own version of "Deokmi" and stick it on the wall :) It was fun to look around while waiting for our drinks.

There's also a terrace, with clean, stylish tables and chairs and an open feel — I thought it would be wonderful to sit there once the weather cools down a bit more.

Drink menu board at Geumsong Deokmi

Here's the menu board. One thing I loved: you can choose decaf beans for free, so as a decaf drinker I could get decaf without any extra charge ❤️ The coffee and drink options aren't huge in number, but there are unique items like fig ade, lattes, and various teas that stood out.

Menu board showing French toast and granita

French toast and granita ❤️ I actually came here specifically for the granita. Sadly melon season was over so I couldn't try the melon granita, but I ordered a different one instead.

Dessert showcase at Geumsong Deokmi

Off to one side of the store, the desserts sold at Geumsong Deokmi were on display.

Cheese dessert cakes on display
Desserts made with Kiri cream cheese on display

As a partner store of Kiri, they use Kiri cream cheese, which already got me excited haha

Filled scones on display, packed with filling

And on top of that, filled scones ❤️ I'm not really a fan of dry, crumbly bread, but these filled scones are packed with filling inside so they're delicious to eat. It really felt like the desserts here were a level more premium than other places.

A tray of drinks and desserts served together

After ordering, a staff member kindly brought everything over herself and explained how to eat each item. Once we finished, we just returned the dishes and tray to the counter. Since it was the weekend and busy, we waited about 15 minutes. After the 15-minute wait, the desserts and drinks we received looked amazing, right? Let me introduce each menu item one by one.

Royal vanilla bean latte, decaf, 6,500 won

A cup of decaf Royal Vanilla Bean Latte

One of Geumsong Deokmi's signature menu items, the Royal Vanilla Bean Latte. Smooth and sweet, it was great for cooling off on a hot summer day.

Pear and rice granita, 8,000 won

Pear and rice granita topped with cinnamon and nurungji granules

The pear and rice granita has big ice granules like a slushie, topped with cinnamon powder and crunchy pieces like nurungji (scorched rice) candy. The pear flavor was so good, and the combination of ingredients was really harmonious. Perfect for summer 👍🏻

Lemon granita, 7,500 won

Lemon granita served with grape syrup

The lemon granita was a cool, refreshing lemon sorbet. Just like it looks, it had a strong tartness that was really appealing, and the grape syrup that comes with it was also nicely sour.

Oreo cheesecake, 7,800 won

Oreo cheesecake with cookie crust base

One of Geumsong Deokmi's signature desserts, the Oreo cheesecake. Made with cheesecake, sweet Oreos, rich caramel, muscovado, and a dense cookie crust, every part was in perfect harmony from the rich cream cheese down to the cookie base — nothing was missing. It might be in my top 5 cheesecakes ever?! There's a reason it's a signature.

Fig tiramisu, 12,800 won

Fig tiramisu topped with fresh figs

The fig tiramisu is made with Deokmi's custom Earl Grey tea cream, fresh figs, and a compote cooked from fresh figs. The sweet figs and the layers of Earl Grey tea cream between the sponge cake sheets had a strong Earl Grey aroma — it tasted as good as it smelled. My mom, who's usually all about cheesecake, actually said the fig tiramisu was even better and that she'd buy it again if it were sold somewhere in Incheon!

Is Geumsong Deokmi worth a family visit in Haeundae?

So that was our family outing to "Geumsong Deokmi Haeundae Haeridan-gil Branch," a café on Haeridan-gil in Haeundae, Busan. The drinks and desserts were so good it made complete sense why my coworker recommended it — a proper sugar recharge. Even back in Seoul I still find myself thinking about the flavors, so I highly recommend it to Busan locals and anyone visiting Busan 👍🏻 Definitely a place I'd go back to ❤️
