Sukiyaki broth and 1++ hanwoo at Yeosu shabu-shabu buffet Tongkeun
In short
Tongkeun Shabu is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu buffet on the 3rd floor of the Hana Bank building on Mangma-ro in Hakdong, Yeosu. The sukiyaki broth cannot be split half-and-half, so it comes on its own with 1++ grade hanwoo (Korean beef) and vegetables dipped in raw egg yolk, alongside a salad bar of sushi, fried chicken, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), yukhoe (beef tartare), naengmyeon (cold noodles) and a chocolate fountain. If you want all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu in Yeosu, this is the place! Tongkeun Shabu.
Today I'm visiting an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant in Hakdong, Yeosu —
Tongkeun Shabu
I went in and thoroughly demolished everything from delicious Japanese-style sukiyaki shabu-shabu with ₩2+ grade hanwoo (highest quality Korean beef) to a salad bar packed with dozens of different dishes.

I loaded up on fresh vegetables, mushrooms and other shabu-shabu ingredients in the deeply flavorful Japanese-style sukiyaki broth and thoroughly enjoyed a hearty, filling meal.

The salad bar in the back of the restaurant had everything from pizza to sushi, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and chicken, plus a full lineup of sweet desserts.

From the shabu-shabu to the wide variety of salad bar dishes, Tongkeun Shabu was genuinely fun to pick and choose from according to your taste! Let's take a closer look at what makes this place so appealing.
Where is Tongkeun Shabu, and what about parking and seating?
Tongkeun Shabu is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu buffet on the 3rd floor of the Hana Bank building on Mangma-ro in Yeosu. There's a spacious customer-only parking area behind the building, so I could visit without worrying about parking.

The spacious, comfortable interior was already full of guests enjoying their meals. There are partitioned booths for a more private meal as well as group seating for larger parties, making it a great spot for both family dinners and gatherings of all kinds.

Choosing the sukiyaki broth and claiming free 1++ hanwoo
At Tongkeun Shabu you pay first and take your seat, and then a staff member brings over a broth chart.

Unfortunately the sukiyaki broth can't be split half-and-half, but since we'd heard it was incredibly delicious, we ordered it without hesitation.
Tongkeun Shabu also had a generous receipt review event — participate in the review event and you get free ₩2+ grade hanwoo! It came out on an elegant plate, and the vivid red, fresh cut of ₩2+ hanwoo✨️ was seriously impressive.
There's also a loyalty stamp event based on how many times you visit, so if you're a regular, be sure to take advantage of it!
What's on the all-you-can-eat salad bar at Tongkeun Shabu?
An all-you-can-eat corner with everything from fresh shabu-shabu ingredients to delicious cooked dishes waiting for you

Now for the main event — the all-you-can-eat salad bar with a full range of dishes. For shabu-shabu ingredients there was napa cabbage, bean sprouts, oyster mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms and more.
There were also cucumbers, carrots, onions, perilla leaves, and pineapple, perfect for wrapping in rice paper for Vietnamese-style rolls. And a warm mushroom soup served with bread, ta-da~

Australian and American shabu-shabu meat was neatly laid out in a freezer, so you just take as much as you want, haha.
Crispy fried dishes and meat at the salad bar 🍗
Savory, crispy fried chicken✨️, sweet tangsuyuk, and also healthy duck meat and spicy, collagen-rich dakbal (spicy chicken feet).

There was also fluffy fried rice and two kinds of thin-crust pizza, so kid-friendly menu items were well covered too.
A proper sushi corner too 🍣
Uniquely, at Tongkeun Shabu in Yeosu you can also enjoy sushi.

From shrimp, egg, and squid sushi to gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and various rolled sushi, there was plenty to choose from according to your taste.
Salads and fresh fruit 🥗🍊

From a light pre-meal salad to sweet oranges and shine muscat grapes, along with filling yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and naengmyeon (cold noodles), there was a really wide variety of dishes prepared.
To finish, there were plenty of ingredients for making porridge with the shabu-shabu broth — rice, eggs, seasoned seaweed flakes, and sesame oil, so you could make your own savory porridge.
The sweet dessert corner and chocolate fountain 🍨🍫

For sweet desserts there was ice cream and a chocolate fountain, along with colorful sprinkles, cereal, and pretzel sticks — great toppings for the ice cream.
There were also soft drinks, pomegranate juice, and plum juice, so you could pair whatever suits your taste with something refreshing!
How does sukiyaki shabu-shabu taste dipped in egg yolk?
We brought back shabu-shabu ingredients along with a variety of dishes from Tongkeun Shabu.

Maybe because we ordered the sukiyaki, they also gave us extra shabu-shabu ingredients that weren't on the salad bar. Nice touch! Extra broth also came in a tokkuri (sake flask) so we could easily top it up.
The sukiyaki shabu-shabu bubbled away as it cooked..! Fresh egg yolks were provided for each person, and we dipped the well-cooked hanwoo and vegetables generously into them.
Shabu-shabu in the bulgogi-style broth was fantastic dipped in sauce, and also amazing wrapped up neatly in rice paper.

Beyond enjoying fresh vegetables and meat freely in the sweet, deeply flavorful sukiyaki broth, it was even better being able to taste sushi, yukhoe, naengmyeon, and desserts all in one place.
