Hand drip café in Juan-dong, Incheon: Basque cheesecake at Tiny Dot

In short

Tiny Dot is a hand drip roastery café in Juan-dong, Michuhol, Incheon, filling a whole four-story building near Singi Market. On a late-evening visit, the order was a stone-mill matcha latte ground fresh on site, an iced Americano brewed from a dark blend, and a Basque cheesecake made with antibiotic-free eggs. The stone-ground matcha tasted deep and the Americano nutty, and Tiny Dot also lets you choose among single-origin beans for hand drip coffee.

Today's episode of Coffee Road takes me hunting for a good coffee shop in Juan-dong. While I was near Singi Market, I spotted a café called Tiny Dot that makes its matcha latte with tea ground on a stone mill, so I headed straight over. Here's my honest review.

Tiny Dot floor guide and elevator

Tiny Dot is split across a counter and factory on 1F, seating and a women's restroom on 2F, seating and a men's restroom on 3F, and a rental space with a women's restroom on 4F. There's also an elevator.

  • 1F: counter, factory
  • 2F: seating, women's restroom
  • 3F: seating, men's restroom
  • 4F: rental space, women's restroom

+) Having an elevator means it should be easy for anyone with mobility issues to get around comfortably.

+) There's even a little shelf installed inside the elevator, handy for setting your tray down. Little touches of the owner's thoughtfulness kept popping up everywhere — a genuinely fun café to explore.

What amenities are on each floor?

A little station set up at every floor's entrance. Syrup, tissues, wet wipes, and water are all there, so you don't have to walk back to the counter — a real plus!

+) If your coffee's too bitter, I'd recommend grabbing syrup here.

Late-evening desserts at Tiny Dot: cheesecake and the scone zone

Tiny Dot's Basque cheesecake is apparently handmade. Since we visited late in the evening, the dessert selection wasn't huge.

+) Figured this had to be a dessert spot worth trying, so I ordered the Basque cheesecake!

A scone zone with all kinds of scones on display. Apparently Tiny Dot is somewhat known for its scones? I was curious about the scallion cheese scone, but sadly it was already sold out.

Which hand drip beans does Tiny Dot serve?

At Tiny Dot you can choose from a variety of beans sourced from Guatemala, Indonesia, Colombia, Ethiopia, Jamaica, and more. Since this is a hand-drip-focused café, they've clearly gone out of their way to offer a wide range of bean options.

+) For the Americano, they said they brew with a dark blend. If you're curious about the other beans, I'd recommend ordering a hand drip coffee instead.

Tiny Dot also sells beans by the bag. If you liked the beans you tasted in-store, you can take them home with you.

+) If you buy beans, check out the stairwell — there's a testing space there, so I'd recommend giving it a try before you leave.

Honest review: stone-mill matcha latte, iced Americano and Basque cheesecake

Our order: Basque cheesecake, stone-mill matcha latte, and iced Americano.

How Tiny Dot makes its stone-mill matcha latte

The stone mill sitting right at the counter. Seeing that they really do grind it in-store, right there at the counter, made it impossible not to try one.

Stone-mill matcha latte

A matcha latte made from tea ground fresh on a stone mill. The powder settles at the bottom, so you're supposed to stir it before drinking. Maybe because it's stone-ground, the matcha flavor felt noticeably deeper. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to taste bitter matcha at its most concentrated!

Iced Americano with a dark blend

Iced Americano brewed from a dark blend

An iced Americano brewed from beans the owner hand-selected. The nutty flavor was outstanding — it hits before any bitterness and fills your mouth cleanly, which I really loved.

Basque cheesecake with antibiotic-free eggs

A Basque cheesecake made with a healthier approach — antibiotic-free eggs and dairy cream give it a genuinely wholesome taste.

+) It was a cake you could enjoy on its own, even without the iced Americano.
