Gohyeon, Geoje Korean restaurant for family lunch: Geojedo Grilled

We visited this place while trying to figure out what to eat for lunch during our family trip to Geoje. When you're traveling, where to eat matters almost as much as where to sightsee, right? Especially on a family trip with kids, I kept looking for somewhere that wasn't just adult-friendly food but somewhere everyone could eat comfortably together.

This time, while searching for good restaurants in Geoje, I found a place where you could have grilled fish and ganjang gejang (soy-marinated crab) together, so I saved it in advance as our lunch spot. Long story short, it turned out to be a pretty satisfying lunch spot during our Geoje family trip.

Where is Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang, and where do you park?

We visited Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang. The address is 17 Gohyeonhang 4-gil, 1F, Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's located in the Gohyeon area of Geoje, and there was plenty of parking space right beside the building. Best of all, the parking was free.

On a family trip, you're usually dealing with kids and luggage and getting around by car, so I tend to care quite a bit about whether parking is convenient when picking a restaurant. This place had no stress on that front at all. We visited around 12:40pm during lunchtime, and luckily we got a table right away with no wait.

Once inside, the space was bigger and cleaner than I expected. It felt like a comfortable atmosphere for a family meal, and there seemed to be no trouble seating a larger group either. Best of all, the menu wasn't limited to just one thing — there was grilled fish, ganjang gejang, and grilled meat too, so it seemed like a good spot for a family with different tastes.

Set meal or all-you-can-eat: which to order in Gohyeon

Looking at the menu, there was a separate set menu and an all-you-can-eat menu. Since we were visiting during our family trip, we didn't bother with the all-you-can-eat option and just ordered the regular set menu. It came with both grilled fish and kkotgejang (marinated blue crab), and in the end the regular set was more than enough.

I was worried the portions might be too small, but between the grilled fish, ganjang gejang, side dishes, and the salad bar, we were pretty full by the time we finished eating. So if you're not a big eater, I think ordering the regular set like we did would be plenty satisfying.

The main event: the grilled fish

And the thing I was most looking forward to that day — the grilled fish. Several kinds of fish came out together, so you could pick and choose according to your taste. The outside was grilled crispy while the flesh inside was moist and tender, making it easy to pick apart with chopsticks.

There was hardly any of that fishy taste, so I thought even someone who doesn't do well with fish would find it manageable. A bite of warm rice topped with a piece of grilled fish, and a whole bowl of rice disappeared fast. It really was worth coming here as a Geoje grilled fish spot.

Flame-grilled single dishes for the kids

When choosing a restaurant with kids on a family trip, whether there's something the kids will eat matters a lot. Luckily, besides the grilled fish and ganjang gejang, this place also had a grilled meat single-dish option. Our kids ordered the grilled meat, and since it goes well with warm rice, they ate it up happily.

Thanks to that, the adults could enjoy grilled fish and ganjang gejang while the kids had grilled meat, everyone eating comfortably according to their own taste.

The salad bar that made lunch more generous

And another thing I liked — the well-stocked salad bar. Besides the basic side dishes, there were several other options you could take as much as you needed, so it was nice to add a bit of variety throughout the meal.

It wasn't just a meal of grilled fish alone — with ganjang gejang, grilled meat, and a range of side dishes all together, the whole meal felt pretty substantial. And we didn't even use the all-you-can-eat option, yet we were still completely full.

How was it as a family lunch in Geoje?

Having searched in advance for a family lunch spot on this Geoje trip, I really liked that we got seated right away without waiting, and that parking was so convenient.

Above all, when you go with family, someone likes fish, someone likes meat, and the kids want something else entirely — so having grilled fish, ganjang gejang, grilled meat, and a full salad bar all in one place, letting everyone pick what they wanted, was the real advantage here.
