In short

Min Cook Dasima is a sushi and Japanese restaurant in the center of Hwajeong Station, Goyang, known as the city's first sushi restaurant and a 25-year-old Hundred-Year Store. Arriving just after 11:30am to beat the lunch peak, the sushi set meal came as a full spread: pre-meal porridge, salad, miso soup, steamed egg, tempura and braised eel. Hi everyone, it's Kking.🍣

Turns out this place is a long-standing Hundred-Year Store and Goyang's very first sushi restaurant. There's clearly a reason people keep coming back for so long, right?! Once I tried it myself, I could see why it's so full — the set meal was seriously packed with food.🔥 Let me walk you through the sushi set meal I had!

Right from the entrance, the Hundred-Year Store certification and the Blue Ribbon mark caught my eye.

Turns out this is Goyang's very first sushi restaurant — a sushi place that's been running for a whopping 25 years!!! Places like this get you extra excited even before you walk in, haha. So thrilled.

Arriving at 11:30am before the lunch rush: is there a wait at Min Cook Dasima?

I got to Min Cook Dasima just a bit after 11:30 and walked straight in without any wait. I went at that time specifically to avoid the lunch rush, and sure enough, once lunchtime hit, customers kept streaming in one after another. It really is a beloved, steady favorite near Hwajeong Station. Still, the restaurant itself is spacious with quite a lot of tables.

What comes with the sushi set meal at Min Cook Dasima? 😳

Sushi set meal ordered at Min Cook Dasima

What I ordered was the sushi set meal.

Pre-meal porridge served with the sushi set meal

First, a pre-meal porridge comes out. It's slightly salty with a savory depth that wakes up your appetite from the very first bite. And then the sushi set meal arrived... wow, the spread is seriously packed.

It's not just sushi sitting there alone — there's salad, miso soup, steamed egg and tempura, and even braised eel! Seeing the whole table filled up made me feel satisfied just looking at it.😍 If you're searching for a proper full meal near Hwajeong Station, I think you'll love this spread.

How many kinds of sushi are in the Hwajeong Station set? 🍣

Sushi plate topped with a variety of fish including salmon and tuna

The sushi lineup was great too. There's a nice variety of fish — salmon, tuna, white fish, mackerel — plus fried tofu sushi and egg sushi, so it's fun picking through one by one.

Above all, the fish was fresh and the rice seasoning was just right for my taste. Neither the rice nor the fish stood out on its own — they really came together as one. I go around chasing good sushi because I love it, and this Hwajeong Station spot had solid fundamentals.

From miso soup to pudding-soft steamed egg 🤍

Miso soup and steamed egg served alongside the sushi set meal

The miso soup that came alongside was more to my taste than I expected. It had a rich, savory flavor that reminded me of miso soup I had in Japan. But what I liked best of all was the steamed egg!

Scooping it with a spoon, the texture is unbelievably soft — almost pudding-like and jiggly, with shrimp and mushrooms inside. I love steamed egg, and this one made me want a whole extra bowl, haha.

The tempura at Min Cook Dasima is seriously crisp 🔥

Tempura with shrimp, shishito pepper and sweet pumpkin

The tempura came with one shrimp, one shishito pepper, and one sweet pumpkin. And the batter is seriously crispy! That crunch on the first bite made me suddenly think of tendon (tempura rice bowl), haha.

Braised eel and radish simmered in soy sauce marinade

And one thing that made the sushi set meal a bit special was the braised eel. Eel and radish are simmered together in a soy sauce marinade and served alongside. I've had plenty of eel sushi, but this was my first time trying braised eel. Eel is already tender, but braising it made it feel even more moist and soft — a really distinctive touch. And don't skip the salad in between! It comes with a refreshing fruit dressing, so having a bite between the sushi and tempura completely resets your palate.✨

And I... the tempura was so good I ended up getting extra fried shrimp.🤣 Turns out you can get fried shrimp by joining the Naver receipt review event. Min Cook Dasima's tempura was already so crispy that I loved it, and getting bonus delicious fried shrimp on top felt like scoring a bonus, haha. If there's an event running when you visit, definitely check it out!

Is Min Cook Dasima worth it for lunch near Hwajeong Station? 🍣

The finished sushi set meal table at Min Cook Dasima after eating

I was curious about this place since it's been beloved in the same spot for so long as a Hundred-Year Store. Trying it myself, not only was the sushi delicious, but the side dishes were also packed with substance. In particular, the soft steamed egg and the crispy tempura kept popping into my head even after I finished eating.🤍

With such a wide variety of sushi, the sushi set meal at Min Cook Dasima seems like a solid choice for anyone wanting to try several kinds or looking for a filling lunch near Hwajeong Station. If you're a Japanese-food lover like me, it's worth stopping by whenever you're looking for sushi near Hwajeong Station.🍣 I already want to come back and try other menu items next time!
