Busan tonkatsu restaurant with truffle oil: Hets Jeonpo
In short
Hets Jeonpo Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant in Busanjin, Busan. I ordered three YBD loin katsu at 13,000 won each and tried them with salt, wasabi, and truffle oil in the spacious dining room. Verdict: the truffle oil pairing is especially good for truffle lovers.

I remembered enjoying Hets tonkatsu at the Gwangalli branch before, so this time I visited the Jeonpo branch. It was my first time at Hets Jeonpo Branch, and the restaurant was spacious and pleasant overall, making it a comfortable place to eat haha.
If you are looking for a place to have pork cutlet in Jeonpo, it is worth stopping by at least once, so let me introduce it along with what I ordered this time!!
Hets Jeonpo Branch location and hours
Hets Jeonpo Branch is in a building on Jeonpo-daero in Busanjin-gu.

The Jeonpo area has restaurants and cafés lining its alleys, so it is also a nice location for looking around after your meal.
The spacious and pleasant Jeonpo branch

Once I stepped inside, the neat interior caught my eye. I have also been to the Gwangalli branch, but the Jeonpo branch has a roomy layout, so it did not feel cramped while eating.

Bar-style seating is at the center, and the areas around the tables were tidy too. There was also space to put down bags or coats, which was convenient during the meal.
At a pork cutlet restaurant, the meal can sometimes feel short when you are focused on the food, but this place itself was so neat that it was nice to eat slowly.
Hets Jeonpo Branch menu and YBD loin katsu

Hets sells tonkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlet) made with YBD pork and Jeju black pork. That day, I ordered three YBD loin katsu at ₩13,000 each.
YBD loin katsu is a loin cutlet with just the right amount of fat, so you can enjoy its rich, savory flavor. Rice and jang-guk (clear soup) were set out before the menu arrived.

If you eat only tonkatsu, your mouth can start to feel a little rich midway through, but taking spoonfuls of jang-guk alongside it felt warm and refreshing, so they went well together.
YBD loin katsu texture and accompaniments

Finally, the YBD loin katsu arrived. The coating was crisp, while the meat inside felt moist. The clean, meaty flavor characteristic of loin was joined by the savoriness from the fat, and the flavor came through more with every bite.

I ate the tonkatsu cut into bite-sized pieces, and I loved the texture: the crisp coating first, then the tender meat inside. A light dip in salt lets you taste the meat itself, while mustard or wasabi lets you change up the flavor to suit your taste.
Personally, my favorite combination was dipping it in truffle oil. The truffle aroma came through subtly alongside the savory flavor of the tonkatsu, so I kept reaching for it. I also liked that several sauces were available, letting me enjoy one plate in different combinations.
Silbi kimchi and song-request Post-its

I also asked for Silbi kimchi at Hets. It was kimchi with the distinctly spicy seasoning that Silbi kimchi is known for, and having a piece between bites of tonkatsu refreshed my palate.
It also went well with kimchi on top of rice and a piece of tonkatsu. Because the kimchi had some heat, it made a great pairing with the clean, savory tonkatsu. I tend to keep reaching for kimchi when I eat tonkatsu, so I was glad I asked for the Silbi kimchi too.
There were also Post-its on one side where you could write down and request a song yourself.

If there was a song you wanted to hear, you could simply write it on a Post-it and request it, which was a small bit of fun. Listening to atmospheric music while having snacks really created a bar-like mood, and it was nice for passing time with friends while talking about song requests.
If you are looking for tonkatsu in Jeonpo
After eating at both the Gwangalli and Jeonpo branches, I found this visit especially comfortable because the Jeonpo restaurant was spacious and pleasant.

YBD loin katsu is a good choice for anyone who enjoys the savory flavor of pork loin, and there are plenty of accompaniments, including salt, wasabi, and truffle oil, so you can eat it the way you like. If you love truffle aroma like I do, try it with the truffle oil too. This was absolutely my favorite combination.

When you want neat, Japanese-style tonkatsu in Jeonpo, Hets Jeonpo Branch is a pork cutlet spot in Jeonpo-dong worth visiting.
