Why book a Suwon hair salon 16 days before the wedding?

My wedding is now less than 3 weeks away!!!! It's D-16 :( Time to go to the salon. I've had this wave perm sitting neglected for almost a year now, and I've always had really bad curl around my sideburns, the back and inner layers of my hair.

I get magic straightening once or twice a year without fail, but since moving to Suwon I hadn't settled on a salon, which was really stressing me out. The salon I used to go to in Seoul meant a 3-hour round trip on the subway... 💧 This time I really didn't have the time, so I told myself I absolutely had to find a Suwon salon!!!! That's how I found Kamiya Hair, right in Yeongtong.

Before photos: leftover wave perm, curl and damaged hair

Before heading in for the treatment I was curious how much of a difference there'd be, so I took some before photos and honestly... it's pretty bad haha. The bottom still has the old perm hanging on, and the top is frizzy and curly with a lot of damage.

The stylist took more photos at the salon too, and wow — totally tangled, could barely run a comb through it, total chaos haha.

Why straightening only, and no layered cut or C-curl?

Since I'm getting married soon, my wedding-day hair and makeup artist told me not to get a layered cut if I'm doing an updo, so I told the designer I'd probably need to cut it straight across. I actually wanted a C-curl too, but she recommended I skip it, saying a C-curl wouldn't look great with a blunt cut and that straightening alone would look nicer. So I decided to just do the magic straightening!!

Since I have a lot of hair, two stylists worked hard straightening it section by section with the iron.... 🌞 They kept asking if it was tiring to sit for so long, but honestly they looked more exhausted than me....

Neutralizer applied, waiting for the very last step~!! The long 4-hour wait is almost over!!

The result: not one under-straightened section

Wow!!! It turned out so pretty :((( I was worried since my curls were so bad and my hair was damaged, but my hair condition actually improved and there wasn't a single spot left unstraightened!!

What fell short, and the next appointment

Once the wedding's over, next time I go to the salon I'm definitely getting a layered C-curl perm!!! A little bit of regret about not being able to do the C-curl this time :(haha, and not being able to do the layered cut either!! Weddings really come with a lot of restrictions haha.

That's my record of getting magic straightening from designer Teddy at Kamiya Hair in Suwon Yeongtong. I went with straightening, but I'd recommend this salon to anyone in Yeongtong looking for a layered cut, iron perm, layered perm, and so on haha. They also seemed really good at platinum blonde bleaching!!
