I had some errands in Yeongtong, Suwon and thought I'd try sushi for a solo lunch, so I stopped by Teukbyeolhan Chobap. It's a place locals in Yeongtong flock to, with a wait even on weekday lunches. A flat ₩1,890 per plate makes this conveyor-belt sushi spot great value! The sushi quality was solid too, made with fresh ingredients — here's my review, recommended for a date spot or solo dining✔️

Teukbyeolhan Chobap sits right near Yeongtong Station in Yeongtong-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. I arrived around 11:50, just a bit after the 11:30 opening, but it was already full and I waited about 5 minutes. I had errands in the Yeongtong area, thought this would make a good lunch spot, and timed my visit right around opening..!

I came by car, and if you park in the building's underground lot, just mention it after your meal and they'll register you for free parking.

Inside Teukbyeolhan Chobap: clean bar seats and tables

Since it's a conveyor-belt sushi place, I expected only bar seating, but they also had separate 4-person tables set up, which is great for visiting with family👌🏻 I waited about 5 minutes for a seat at the conveyor-belt bar, and sure enough, the turnover was fast so a seat opened up quickly haha

There was even a coat rack for hanging up jackets, and they run various events with perks too, so keep that in mind✅

I really love sushi so I came in with high expectations, and the variety circling on the belt looked plentiful and delicious, which got me excited before I'd even taken a bite><. The chefs here hand-wrap and place the sushi right in front of you.

Each seat also had the sauces you'd need already set up, so I could start eating comfortably without having to ask staff for anything😋

Teukbyeolhan Chobap offers about 50 kinds of sushi in total-. Aged kimchi flounder, tuna steak, cuttlefish, baby octopus, salmon gunkan, futomaki, yukhoe (raw beef), salmon, sea bream belly, and more, all uniformly priced at ₩1,890 per plate — the perk is you can pick and choose without worrying about cost!

First off, they set you up with a soy sauce + wasabi combo,

I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I sampled as broad a range as I could haha. Shrimp jangajji sushi, aged kimchi flounder sushi, eel sushi and more — each one looked pretty and, since they were just made, clearly fresh✨

How the sushi tastes: small rice portions, ingredients up front

Overall the rice portion was on the smaller side, which personally I loved because it let me really taste the ingredients, and the seasoning wasn't too strong so I could enjoy the savory flavor-. There's such a wide variety that you can try many different things, and I also liked the cleanliness and freshness of the ingredients👍🏻

I originally planned to keep it simple with just 10 plates, but it was so good I ended up eating 16 plates by myself haha. I also tried the shrimp tempura, which you can order separately for the same ₩1,890 — crispy outside, tender inside, perfect as a dessert-like bite! Even the orange wasn't bland but sweet, so turns out they're good with fruit too?
