Gwangalli brunch café with a 6-minute parking walk: Famous Benny

Today I'm introducing a famous Gwangalli brunch spot — 'Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch' ❗

Where is Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, and where should you park?

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is fairly close to Gwangalli Beach, and since it's right next to the Minnak-dong administrative welfare center, it wasn't hard to find! If you're driving, the closest lot is Minnak Sealand Market public parking, just a 1-minute walk away, but it's on the small side so parking there isn't easy, especially on weekends.

So I parked at Minnak public parking lot and walked about 6 minutes instead — on a weekday it was easy to park there :)

Two floors and outdoor tables: no wait on a weekday morning

Famous Benny is famous as a brunch spot, so I'd really wanted to come, and I finally made it 🤗 The café has 1st and 2nd floors plus a small outdoor table, so there were quite a lot of seats.

It looks like this banner gets set up out front when the place is busy, but I visited on a weekday morning and got to walk right in :)

There were customers on the 2nd floor so I couldn't take a photo, but the atmosphere was just as good as the 1st floor 👍

What we ordered at Famous Benny, and what it cost

While waiting I was handed the menu, and honestly the vibe was totally my taste...✨

I ordered an Americano for 5,500 won, a latte for 6,000 won, The Famous Benny (salmon) for 18,000 won, and Egg in Hell (shakshuka) for 15,000 won ❗

They said they'd bring the food to my table, so I looked around the café in the meantime haha

Everything I ordered arrived ❗ Honestly it looked even prettier in person, and I'm a bit sad I couldn't capture that properly in photos 😥

How does The Famous Benny (salmon) taste?

I tried The Famous Benny first. You can choose between salmon and bacon, and since I'm a salmon lover, I picked salmon without a second thought 😋

The Famous Benny comes on a croissant topped with vegetables, avocado, and salmon. The croissant was crisp like it had just been baked, and it was even better with the vegetables and salmon. It had a clean, mild flavor that even someone like me — used to strongly seasoned food — really enjoyed :)

Egg in Hell (shakshuka): why extra bread is a must

And my favorite dish was Egg in Hell (shakshuka) ❗ It's a soft tomato sauce with poached eggs, sourdough, mozzarella cheese, and arugula.

But this one, seriously, you just keep eating it spoon after spoon... I personally regretted not adding extra sourdough that day, it was that good 👍

If you're sharing between two people, definitely add extra bread,,,🙏

The coffee: Dukes Market Blend beans

I also ordered an Americano and a latte! Famous Benny uses Dukes Coffee Roasters' Market Blend, which is said to have a rich body with a nice balance of sweetness. They say the strong flavor and sweetness pairs well with milk for latte-type drinks, and it's also good enjoyed as a black coffee where you can feel its weighty, clear flavor :)

Today I introduced Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, a famous Gwangalli brunch spot! It opens from 8am, so if you're looking for a great brunch place in Gwangalli, I think this one's worth a visit 🙌
