Gwangalli bar for basil pesto pasta and mochiri tofu: Salmon Brothers

In short

Salmon Brothers is a salmon and Western-style bar on the second floor near Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. On a weekday evening, the writer and her mom ordered raw salmon sushi, basil pesto pasta and mochiri tofu at Salmon Brothers, where the salmon slices looked thicker than a spoon and the mushrooms and grilled shrimp on the pasta stood out. For sushi, pasta and dessert in one sitting in Gwangalli, Salmon Brothers is a solid pick.

From giant raw salmon sushi to basil pesto pasta, and Salmon Brothers' dessert kick — mochiri tofu — everything was so delicious T_T The staff were super friendly, and honestly the owner was really handsome too^_^ hahahaha 👍 The vibe was full of that emotional/cozy atmosphere too, so I'm bringing you an honest review for anyone looking for a Gwangalli blind date restaurant or a romantic dinner spot in Gwangalli 🧐

Finding Salmon Brothers on the second floor by Gwangalli Beach

Salmon Brothers is located near Gwangalli Beach, on the 2nd floor, so you have to climb some stairs to get there.

The stairs up to the 2nd floor already had that emotional/cozy vibe ✨ There was a menu board by the door too, so I could peek at what dishes they had before even walking in, which was nice.

I visited around 6:30 PM on a weekday, and to my surprise the tables were almost all full haha. Luckily one seat was open so we could sit down right away ✌️ Seeing how busy it was even on a weekday evening, it seemed like a popular place 😆

As soon as I walked in, the slightly dim lighting and emotional interior caught my eye, and there were cute little bear figurines here and there, which was adorable T_T 🐻🫶

The tables were also spaced fairly wide apart, so the next table wasn't too close, which I liked. Overall it felt like a place good for a meal or for drinks too.

It seemed like a good pick for people looking for an emotional dinner spot in Gwangalli, or even as an emotional drinking spot in Gwangalli 🫶

Self-serve bar and restroom amenities at Salmon Brothers

In the middle of the restaurant there's a self-serve bar with water and wet wipes, and there's another one near the restroom in the back — this one even had warm water available 👍

By the restroom they also had blotting paper, cotton swabs, a hair iron, hairspray, and clips ready to use, and I really appreciated these thoughtful touches 😊 Honestly, this really does feel like a great pick for a Gwangalli blind date restaurant!

What's on the Salmon Brothers menu, and what it costs

True to the name Salmon Brothers, I definitely wanted to try the salmon dishes! And the pasta looked so good just from the visuals that I picked one to try too haha.

They also had menu items like salmon tartare and a flounder assortment set, so it seemed like a great place for anyone looking for drinking snacks too 🔥

Corkage is available here too, at about ₩15,000 per bottle, so it seemed like a good option if you want to bring your own wine or liquor to enjoy with your meal!

The three dishes ordered at Salmon Brothers

We ordered ✔️raw salmon sushi ✔️basil pesto pasta ✔️mochiri tofu.

Raw salmon sushi: how thick are the slices?

The moment the food arrived I was already impressed by how beautiful it looked 🥺✨ First up, the raw salmon sushi!!

Honestly, the size of the salmon was insane haha. The slices were so thick and chunky that they looked bigger than the spoon on the table. Popping one in my mouth completely filled it up — honestly, exaggerating a little, it was almost too big to chew comfortably 😆

There's something so satisfying about eating a whole thick bite of salmon like this. I guess at Salmon Brothers, you really do have to order the salmon haha.

If you're looking for salmon in Gwangalli, you have to go try these thick slices 🫶

Basil pesto pasta with mushrooms and grilled shrimp

The basil pesto pasta was also SO!!!! GOOD!!!! Honestly I thought this was just a salmon spot, but it turned out to be a pasta spot in Gwangalli too;;;

On top were arugula, mushrooms, and shrimp, and the mushrooms in particular were amazing!! Honestly some of the best mushrooms I've ever had haha.

The shrimp weren't just plain raw shrimp either — they came lightly seared and crisp on the outside, so the flavor felt even richer 👍 And honestly, the basil pesto sauce was so good that after finishing the noodles I used a spoon to scrape up every bit of the sauce left in the bowl haha 😜

Eating the soft mushrooms with the springy shrimp together was such a great combo, and switching between salmon and pasta bites meant it never felt heavy at all!!

If you're looking for a pasta spot in Gwangalli, this is one dish worth trying at least once ✨ It would also be a great pick for a Western-style date meal in Gwangalli.

Mochiri tofu, the dessert-like side dish

Last up was mochiri tofu, which I was trying for the first time!! It comes with a thick brown sugar syrup on the side that you drizzle on according to your taste.

I'm not usually a huge fan of brown sugar syrup, so at first I only drizzled a little, but it turned out that adding just a touch of that syrup made it way tastier haha.

The mochiri tofu itself had such a chewy yet soft texture that it felt like it stuck right to the inside of my mouth in the best way 🥺

There were cherry tomatoes on the side too, which were great for cleansing the palate in between bites, and my mom kept saying how delicious it was, genuinely moved while eating it haha.

Next time I visit, I think I'll definitely order the mochiri tofu again!!

Is Salmon Brothers in Gwangalli worth a visit?

Salmon Brothers was a place where the food was delicious, but what made it even better was being able to enjoy the atmosphere along with it. Thick salmon sushi, delicious basil pesto pasta, and the mochiri tofu I tried for the first time and completely loved 🫶

Full spread of dishes on the table at Salmon Brothers

It's a great place to visit for a meal, and since corkage is available, it also seemed like a good spot to enjoy a drink in the evening. It would suit anyone looking for an emotional dinner spot in Gwangalli or an emotional drinking spot in Gwangalli! And if you want to enjoy sushi, Western food, and pasta all in one place in Gwangalli, this is a good one to keep in mind 😊

Next time I go, I'm planning to try the salmon tartare and flounder set with a drink haha. The salmon was so thick that I'm thinking about it again even as I write this ✌️ This was a salmon and Western-food spot in Gwangalli that I absolutely want to revisit.
