Why is it that no matter how much meat I eat, I never get tired of it...? I went craving daepae samgyeopsal (thin-cut pork belly) after a while, and it turned out this Daeyeon-dong BBQ spot had way more menu variety than expected, which made picking and choosing so much fun 🥩

One minute from Daeyeon Station Exit 5 — easy to get to

It's located just a 1-minute walk from Daeyeon Station Exit 5!

Being so close to Daeyeon Station made it easy to get to, and being near Kyungsung University and Pukyong National University meant it's a convenient spot for people in the area too

Walking in, the space was spacious with wide gaps between tables, which made it feel really comfortable

There were also a lot of tables, so it seemed like a good place for friend gatherings, family meals in Daeyeon-dong, or group dinners too!

An interactive Smart Kids Zone

For guests with kids, they run a Smart Kids Zone equipped with interactive play elements, different from a typical playroom

If you're eating out with your kids, this seems like a great Daeyeon-dong restaurant with a playroom ⚽️

On one side, I could see staff slicing the meat fresh the moment it was ordered 🥓

Each table has its own personal fan, so it seems like it'd hold up fine even in the sweltering summer ☀️

The 30-plus item self bar — how much does it cost?

[Self bar fee guide] Elementary school–adult: ₩2,000 / ages 4–7: ₩1,000 / age 3 and under: free

The unlimited self bar had over 30 items, with vegetables and various grilling sides 🥔🍄‍🟫

A variety of sauces were prepared too

The vegetables and ingredients were all fresh, and it was convenient being able to just grab whatever you needed right away!

The welcome fish cake soup (free once per table) was great for taking the edge off hunger before the meat arrived

Albam daepae samgyeopsal with a choice of thickness

With the daepae samgyeopsal, you can choose the thickness — we went with the slightly thicker cut!

We started grilling with the albam daepae samgyeopsal, and the moment it hit the grill it was sizzling away — 🔥

The table was wide enough that there was no trouble fitting the food, and it was nice being able to grab whatever we liked from the self bar to grill alongside it 〰︎︎

The golden, crispy grilled potatoes kept pulling my hand back for more 🥔

There was sundae (Korean blood sausage) too, and grilling it and dipping it in ssamjang was a nice treat

The good thing about daepae samgyeopsal is that once it hits the grill, it cooks through fast without much waiting!

It was definitely thicker than the usual thin-cut pork belly, so it had more chew to it

The meat was tender with no gamey smell whatsoever ̀⁽ᵕ̈⁾ ́

It's tasty on its own, but pairing it with jeotgal (salted seafood), perilla leaves, and lettuce wraps made it even better

How was the Jeju pork jowl?

I ordered the Jeju ppol hangjeongsal (pork jowl) without much expectation, but it turned out to be a surprisingly great meat option

Chewy grilled Jeju pork jowl

The chewy yet savory texture was so appealing, it just stuck to my mouth!

And topping it with grilled kimchi, which you can't skip when eating meat — no need to say more 🤭

We also tried it with the spicy fire sauce in the middle, and its gentle heat really woke up our appetite

Gochujang daepae samgyeopsal with rice

I also ordered the albam gochujang daepae samgyeopsal, one of the menu items I was secretly looking forward to!

Gochujang marinade soaking into the daepae samgyeopsal

As it grilled, the sweet-spicy aroma of the gochujang marinade rose up

This one clearly needed rice, so I ordered some!

Thanks to the thin cut of the pork belly, the marinade blended into the meat really well 〰︎︎

A spoonful of rice with a piece of the gochujang daepae samgyeopsal on top, and you can polish off a whole bowl of rice easily 🥄

Finishing with seafood doenjang stew and the dessert zone

After eating samgyeopsal, you've got to finish it off with a clean doenjang (soybean paste) stew

We ordered the seafood doenjang stew, which came with blue crab and sea squirt, plus a generous amount of tofu, zucchini, and onion 🦀

Mixing it with rice really cuts through the greasiness ◟̆◞̆

Topping the doenjang rice with the gochujang samgyeopsal made for a hearty and satisfying finish

To wrap things up, on the way out you can grab ice cream or coffee to go from the dessert zone 🍦☕️

We went with the sweet ice cream, and it was the perfect dessert to cap off the whole course

From the meat to all the side dishes, there's so much variety to enjoy, so if you're a fan of daepae samgyeopsal, this place is worth a visit!
