Yongin Giheung kalguksu restaurant with no wait: Jangwongap 5-course
In short
Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is a shabu kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Gomae-dong, Yongin, near Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung. Two diners shared the 5-course kalguksu (12,000 won) and the whole-shrimp seafood pancake (13,500 won), then finished with the free perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice and a misugaru (roasted grain powder) slushie, with only a short wait and a parking lot on site. Because Jangwongap serves the meal course by course, it is worth arriving with plenty of time.

I was looking for somewhere to eat near Gomae-dong in Yongin recently and came across Jangwongap Kalguksu. We already like kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) in general, so we went without much expectation, but it turned out to be a place we'd want to go back to haha.

How close is Jangwongap to Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, and is there parking?
Jangwongap Kalguksu is located near Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, over toward Gomae-dong. It's a perfect spot to stop by if you missed mealtime while out shopping at the outlet, so it's worth remembering as a Gomae-dong, Yongin go-to.

We drove there, and since there's a parking lot, we didn't have to worry about finding a spot and could just park and go in comfortably. That part really matters — it was nice not to be stressed before we'd even eaten.
How long is the wait, and what does a meal for two cost?

When we went, we got in without much of a wait at Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch. The prices weren't intimidating either, so it was no problem for the two of us to eat a hearty meal.

What comes in the 12,000-won 5-course shabu kalguksu?
Jangwongap's signature dish is shabu kalguksu, and instead of just getting one bowl of noodle soup, it's served as a 5-course experience. I wasn't sure what that meant at first, but it made sense once we started eating.

The shabu-shabu meat wasn't too thin — it had a bit of thickness that made it tasty — and something unusual here is that the noodles are house-made.

So it was fun that they break down the noodle texture into five different stages and explain each one.

As we cooked ingredients in the shabu broth, the noodle texture and flavor kept changing along the way, so it never felt boring. Even though we ate slowly while chatting, there was still fun in waiting for the next course.
Whole-shrimp seafood pancake, 13,500 won

The whole-shrimp seafood pancake (₩13,500) we ordered alongside was genuinely satisfying too. Calling it 'packed with no gaps' wasn't just talk — more shrimp kept turning up every time we cut into it.
The outside was crispy and the inside was loaded with shrimp and seafood, so I think we were already pretty full before the kalguksu even arrived haha.
The perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice is free

And to finish, the perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice came out for free, which turned out to be a genuine masterstroke. The rice soaked up all the broth flavor, with the perilla oil aroma rising strong, and my spoon kept going even though I was already full.
Best time to visit Jangwongap, plus the free dessert corner
I think Jangwongap Kalguksu works best if you time your visit around outlet shopping, either before or after. It can get crowded during regular mealtimes, so I'd recommend building in a bit of extra time.

Whether you're waiting or you've just finished eating, there's a whole spread of rice crackers and a misugaru (roasted grain powder) slushie for dessert — a variety of snacks with a texture that kept pulling us in even though we were full. There's also coffee, and the misugaru slushie especially had a nutty yet sweet flavor that was hard to resist.

Since the menu comes as a course, it's better to set aside plenty of time rather than rush through it alone. That way you can properly enjoy the seafood pancake and fried rice too, without hurrying.
Overall, if you're looking for a good kalguksu restaurant in Giheung, Yongin, it's worth a visit at least once. If we go again, I'd like to go with an emptier stomach so we can enjoy each course a bit more leisurely.
