Mandu and sundae gukbap at a renovated Busan Station spot: Yeongdong
In short
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is a milmyeon (cold noodle) and dwaeji gukbap (pork soup) restaurant on Jungang-daero 209beon-gil in Dong-gu, near Busan Station. Years after queuing here with her husband, the writer came back with a friend once the restaurant had been renovated and shared one milmyeon, one gukbap with sundae, and one plate of hand-made mandu. The room looks different now, but the chewy noodles and clean-tasting pork at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap are exactly as remembered.

I had somewhere to be near Busan Station, so my friend and I finally made it back to Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap after a long while. This actually wasn't my first time here! Years ago I came with my husband at lunchtime and we even waited in line to get in, haha.

Back then the milmyeon near Busan Station was great, but the dwaeji gukbap (pork soup) was what really stuck with me. This time, reuniting with my friend after so long, the moment I walked in I thought, "wait, is this the right place?" haha. The vibe was pretty different from when I last came — turns out they'd renewed the place in the meantime.

The shop looked different, but funnily enough the taste I remembered was exactly the same. This was the place my husband and I had raved about years ago, and eating it again after all this time — still delicious!! Turns out I wasn't remembering it fondly for nothing, haha.
Where is Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, and what are the hours?
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is at 12 Jungang-daero 209beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan. It's right near Busan Station, so it's a convenient spot to eat before or after catching a train.
Open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with last order at 8:10 PM.
Back after the renovation: was there a wait?
I'd visited before with my husband, at lunchtime.

Even though it was a weekday, there was a line, and I remember waiting about 5–10 minutes to get seated. Luckily, since it's milmyeon and gukbap, turnover was quick. This time, revisiting with my friend, all those old memories came flooding back and we walked in saying, "the gukbap here was seriously good," haha.

There are plenty of dwaeji gukbap places and plenty of milmyeon places around Busan Station, right?? But I think this spot's big advantage is that you can get both in one place.
They still serve mul milmyeon and bibim milmyeon alongside dwaeji gukbap, sundae gukbap, and hand-made mandu.
Ordering one milmyeon, one sundae gukbap and one mandu
This time too, without a second thought, we ordered milmyeon, dwaeji gukbap, and mandu. For the gukbap, I picked the version with sundae (Korean blood sausage) in it.

Since I came with a friend, ordering one of each and sharing was even better, haha. You come for the Busan Station milmyeon and end up eating gukbap too, or come for the dwaeji gukbap and end up with milmyeon as well — that kind of combo.

Then and now, the seating is spacious and plentiful!
Every table comes with paper cups, salt and pepper. Utensils are kept beside the table!!

After we ordered, the table setting came out fast!

I was surprised by how many side dishes there were, haha. Kimchi, kkakdugi, danmuji (pickled radish) — like they weren't sure what we'd like, so they brought everything, right?!
There's even mumallaengi (dried radish strips) and peppers;;;;

And since we ordered milmyeon, out came the warm broth that comes with it!! Even on a hot day, it's hard to skip that broth, haha.
How the milmyeon tastes years later

Back when I first had it, the noodles were so chewy that my husband and I both said it was delicious. Eating it again years later, I thought, "ah right, this is that taste!"

After such a long gap between visits, the shop itself had changed, but my memory of the taste carried right through.

If you're wondering where to have Busan Station milmyeon, this is convenient right after arriving in Busan or right before catching your train.
Sundae gukbap: thick pork with no gamy smell
And of course, coming here, it's hard to skip the dwaeji gukbap. On my past visit, I was even more surprised by the gukbap than by the milmyeon, haha.

Back then, even though the meat was thick, it was tender with almost no gamy smell — that's what stuck with me — and it was just as good this time. If I had to choose between milmyeon and dwaeji gukbap, I still don't think I could decide.
When the weather's hot, you crave the cool milmyeon, and when you want something warm, the gukbap calls to you — so if you're going with a friend, just order one of each, that's the answer, haha.

Hand-made mandu as a side dish
And then there's the mandu (dumplings) we ordered too! Last time, the milmyeon and gukbap were so good I basically forgot this existed, haha, but this time we ordered it alongside again.

A bite of milmyeon, then mandu, then back to the gukbap for another bite — I was glad we ordered all three together. If milmyeon alone feels like it's missing something, this is a good side to add.
Verdict: with a friend, order both milmyeon and gukbap
Revisiting the place I once waited in line for with my husband, this time with a friend, brought back memories and was oddly fun.

At first, with the shop looking so different, we wondered "did we come to the wrong place?" haha, but once we actually ate, the taste I remembered was exactly the same. I especially loved that going back to the same restaurant after years still felt just as good.

If you're torn between Busan Station milmyeon or dwaeji gukbap, try ordering both here and sharing. It's also great if you want to try two of Busan's signature dishes at once without straying far from the station.
If you've visited before like me, it's fun to check out the new look while tasting it all again. This time too, I walked out having properly enjoyed milmyeon, dwaeji gukbap, and mandu, haha.
