Busan Korean BBQ with icy naengmyeon: Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon
In short
Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Nam-gu, Busan. I grilled 500g of chestnut thin-sliced pork belly, loaded up on self-bar sides, and cooled off with icy naengmyeon and soft-serve ice cream. Verdict: a comfortably cool spot for a filling pork barbecue meal!

Visiting Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch near Daeyeon Station
I visited Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, a barbecue spot in Daeyeon-dong. It is close to Daeyeon Station, so getting there is easy! They support one hour of parking per table, and I’ll list the supported parking lots below. There are also plenty of chairs out front to sit on while waiting. I visited around 6 p.m. on a weekday, and there was no wait with lots of open tables. There is a Catchtable kiosk in front of the restaurant too.

Lots of choices, from thin-sliced pork belly to kids’ dishes
There were more menu options than I expected. I thought they only had thin-sliced pork belly, but they also have five-layer pork belly, gochujang thin-sliced pork belly, Korean beef brisket, thin-sliced beef belly, thin-sliced duck, and thin-sliced pork intestines. There are tons of stews and meal dishes too, so you can eat meat and then have a seriously filling meal!! There is a separate kids’ menu, so it is nice for visiting with children! I do not have a photo, but there is also a playroom, making it a good restaurant for a family meal. High chairs are available too.

Ordering 500g of chestnut thin-sliced pork belly at the standard thickness
The first order has to be at least 500g, so I ordered five portions of chestnut thin-sliced pork belly at ₩4,900 per 100g! You can choose either the standard or thick cut. I chose standard. When the 500g first arrived, I thought, “Hmm, does this look like a little too little?” But as I ate, it was not lacking at allll. I did order 200g more after having naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), but I still left a little behindㅠ.. Next time, I have to finish it allㅜ

There are no standard side dishes served separately, but you do get odeng-tang (fish cake soup) broth! You can add more broth and fish cake pieces for an extra charge. It can be reheated, so you can keep eating it nice and warm.

King oyster mushrooms and sundae I had to grab from the self bar
Instead of standard side dishes, the self bar has sooo many things. I may be exaggerating a bit, but it felt like every side dish you could get at a barbecue restaurant was gathered there. It was great being able to take whatever suited each person’s taste. Right next to it are scallion sauce, onion sauce, sesame oil, and more. The side dishes were tasty, and all the vegetables were fresh! Oh, and especially the king oyster mushrooms!! They were seriously delicious. I thought mushrooms were all pretty much the same, but I still remember these ones... Definitely grill the sundae (Korean blood sausage) too. Grilling it in the pork fat made it a little like fried sundae, and it was ridiculously good.

Plates, ladles, children’s spoons, rice paddles, scissors, and tongs are all at the self bar too. There are two plate sizes, large and small. You can quickly grab whatever you need whenever you need it. Loved that haha.

Each table already has utensils and tissues.

Thin-sliced pork belly grilled comfortably with a fan
There is a fan at every table here, so there was no chance to get hot while eating the meat. The restaurant itself was already really cool, so I did not even turn the fan on, yet I did not sweat a single drop while eating.

Thin-sliced pork belly cooks super quickly, which I love. None of the meat was tough; it was tender. Please, please grill the king oyster mushrooms 😋😋

Icy naengmyeon eaten between bites of meat
I ordered naengmyeon midway through the meat to refresh my palate. Even after mixing in all the seasoning sauce, it was not spicy. It was truly icy naengmyeon, so even when I had it after ordering and kept eating meat, it stayed amazingly cool!! At other barbecue restaurants, it is disappointing when naengmyeon gets lukewarm if you do not eat it right away, but this one stayed cool until I finished all the meat because it was icy naengmyeon. I was so full that I could not try any of the stews, but if I visit again, I am going to have both naengmyeon and a stew too haha.

Soft-serve ice cream for the way out
You can even sort out dessert on the way out. But it is only available when you are leaving. If you want it while eating meat, you have to pay ₩2,000. It is the perfect soft-serve ice cream to cleanse your palate! We each took one outside, patted our full bellies, and went for a walk haha.
