Gwangalli Japanese restaurant date course with escape room: Daidokoro

Trying to figure out what to eat in Gwangalli, we found a spot that felt like flying to Japan without the plane ticket 🐧

It's Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch, a Japanese home-style restaurant! The place is so cute and clean that I felt good the moment I walked in haha. There were three of us, and one 3-person set let us try all three mains — total win. (We even hit an escape room right in front afterward, perfect for a Gwangalli date course!) And get this — Daidokoro is even in Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, so it's a tier-1 Busan restaurant. Let me get into the detailed review below haha.

• Break time: Weekdays 15:00–17:00 (none on weekends)
• Location: About 8 minutes on foot from Geumnyeonsan Station Exit 5 / close to Gwangalli Beach
• Parking: No on-site parking → ₩1,000 support at nearby paid lots (Suyeong-gu Office, Golden Beach, Namhae, etc.)
• Amenities: Catch Table waitlist, Naver reservation, group seating/rooms, takeout, wifi, baby chairs available

Review event and customer perks at Daidokoro

Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch gives you milk pudding or vegetable croquette for a review! And here's the cute part — they had all kinds of perks: office worker perks, pregnancy perks, student perks, first-visit perks, and more haha. I'm an office worker myself, so it's small but it was genuinely touching...

Oh, and if you add Daidokoro on KakaoTalk channel, you can also do a lucky draw! Lol I kept meaning to do it after eating and forgot ㅠ if anyone's tried it, let me know how it went haha.

This Namcheon-dong Japanese restaurant gets a wait at lunchtime, so I'd recommend putting your name in on Catch Table in advance. (You can even order your menu while joining the waitlist!)

Interior that feels like a Dotonbori souvenir shop

The inside of Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch genuinely feels like someone picked up an entire Dotonbori souvenir shop and moved it here.

Figures, posters, even cat characters — there's a lot of fun stuff to look at.

You put your name in on Catch Table, then grab your own utensils, shichimi and furikake at the self-serve corner. There's also a sign about the handmade milk pudding. And the truly touching part — Daidokoro even keeps a portable battery on hand, and you can even choose your chopstick rest by preference haha.

What set menus does Daidokoro serve?

They've got so many set options! From a 1-person set all the way to 3- and 4-person sets. Great for going with friends, and good for a solo meal at Daidokoro too haha. I ordered the Jadu 3-person set, so I'll leave a detailed review below.

What comes in the 59,900-won Jadu 3-person set?

What we ordered was Daidokoro's Jadu 3-person set.

• Composition: Karaage set + Nanban (chicken nanban) set + Curry set + Menbosha 4pcs + 2 seasonal drinks
• Price: ₩59,900 (about ₩20,000 per person)
• Upgrade options: Mega karaage +₩7,000 / Nekomamma (butter soy sauce egg rice) +₩1,500

One set gave us three mains plus sides, a whole table full of food — great value.

Even the plain cola came in a Kumamon cup, so it looked adorable too.

Each menu came with its own salad, croquette and more, one per person, so the portions were huge and delicious haha. The cabbage especially — drizzle on the dressing next to it and it turns sweet and tangy, a great match with the fried food. (Just don't overdo the dressing or it gets too sweet!)

How did each dish taste?

Once the whole spread was laid out, it looked so neat and generous that the three of us went 'wow.'

1. Tonkatsu curry

The curry is aged 100 hours, so it's rich and smooth. The tonkatsu is crispy outside, juicy inside — even better dipped deep in the curry. Nice touch drawing a cat on the fried egg with ketchup haha.

2. Karaage

Crispy outside, the thigh meat inside stays moist. The seasoning is well balanced so it's tasty on its own, and paired with the mountain of cabbage it never gets heavy. (Upgrading to mega karaage makes it even more filling!)

3. Chicken nanban

Crispy fried chicken loaded with tartar sauce. Tangy, sweet and savory — a totally different charm from the karaage.

4. Side: menbosha (fried shrimp toast)

This was super crispy too, with moist, delicious shrimp inside.

5. Finishing with milk pudding

The milk pudding included in the set has a rich, smooth milk flavor,

and topped with crispy cereal, it goes down easily even when you're full. The kind of dessert that makes you eat your meal faster just to get to it haha.

Escape room right outside: a Gwangalli date course

Since Daidokoro is close to Gwangalli Beach, going straight to an escape room right in front after eating

means lunch near Geumnyeonsan Station → escape room → beach walk — a perfect Gwangalli date course!!

Do you need a reservation at Daidokoro?

This place really does get busy, so I highly recommend reserving ahead! You can easily do it through Catch Table, so join the waitlist or reserve, then share a set menu between a few people — it's even better that way.

Great for sharing a variety of dishes between three people, with a cute atmosphere and drinks included — this Gwangalli restaurant nailed both value and vibe.
