Suyeong Station bar with spicy octopus and pork: Dari Yeodeolgae
In short
Dari Yeodeolgae is an octopus restaurant-bar on the second floor of an alley near Exit 11 of Suyeong Station in Busan. Catching up with a younger sibling, the writer ordered spicy octopus and pork (ttaengcho muneo jangyuk) as the main, added steamed egg custard and kimchi fried rice, and drank soju and beer — the octopus and pork topped with cucumber, onion sauce and lemon made an ideal drinking snack. Dari Yeodeolgae opens at 15:30, so it works well for a slow early drink near Suyeong Station.

A great find near Suyeong Station for octopus dishes and a drink in a mellow atmosphere.

I had dinner plans with my sister near Suyeong Station after not seeing her in a while. While thinking about what to eat, I remembered a boiled octopus place I'd had my eye on for a while — Dari Yeodeolgae. 🐙 It was one of those spots near Suyeong Station I kept telling myself I'd try eventually, so this time I walked right in without a second thought.

It's walkable from Suyeong Station, so the route was pretty convenient for an evening drink. After coming out of Exit 11, you just walk a bit into the alley.

If you're visiting for the first time, just remembering to turn right at the second intersection should make it easy to find. 😊 There's no parking, so if you're coming for drinks, it seems more convenient to take public transit like we did.
Inside Dari Yeodeolgae: a roomy, unhurried spot for a drink
Going up to the 2nd floor, the interior at Dari Yeodeolgae was bigger than I expected. It was clean, not too bright, and had a pleasantly toned-down mood — just right for drinks.

I find it a bit uncomfortable to sit for long when a bar is too loud or the tables are packed too close together. At Dari Yeodeolgae, the tables felt spaced out enough that talking with my sister was easy.

There were also bar-style counter seats, plus seating facing outside, so you could pick a spot depending on your preference.
For anyone looking for a bar near Suyeong Station where you can chat comfortably over drinks, this place fits well. 🍺
Free starters at Dari Yeodeolgae: clam soup and dried filefish

Once we settled in, the complimentary side dishes came out: clam soup, dried filefish, carrots, cucumber, and more. It was a nice light spread to pick at while waiting for the main dish, and my hand kept wandering back to it.

I was going to just drink soju but ended up ordering beer too. 🍻 With this kind of atmosphere, it seemed like a great spot for daytime drinking near Suyeong Station too! Since it opens at 3:30pm, it's perfect for meeting up a bit early and taking it slow.

What is ttaengcho muneo jangyuk? Octopus, pork and cucumber in one bite
The main dish we picked at Dari Yeodeolgae that day was the spicy octopus and pork. There were plenty of tasty-looking menu items, but this one caught my curiosity from the moment I saw the name — is it something like ohyang jangyuk (오향장육)? 🤔

Trying it in person, the combination of sauce with cucumber, octopus, and meat was quite fun.

The chewy octopus paired with the meat, and the cucumber gave it a refreshing balance in the middle.

Adding in the seasoned onions layered underneath made it a great match as a drinking snack.
It was a different experience from eating octopus on its own, and I found it pretty memorable!!
Squeezing a bit of the lemon that came with it added freshness and cut through the heaviness of the octopus and meat. Adding lemon here and there made it easy to keep eating till the end without feeling weighed down. 🍋

You know those days when you're looking for a good value bar near Suyeong Station but craving something a bit different from usual, haha. On those days, this place centered around octopus dishes is a solid choice!
Fluffy steamed egg custard and kimchi fried rice to finish
It felt a bit lacking to stop at just the spicy octopus and pork at Dari Yeodeolgae, so we also ordered steamed egg custard and kimchi fried rice. The bouncy yet fluffy egg custard had a soft, gentle texture with each spoonful — perfect to eat in between bites. 😊
After the slightly spicy octopus and pork, a bite of the egg custard gave the palate a break! A great side to pair with drinks.
Kimchi fried rice can't be skipped either. 😋 Spicy and savory, it hit the spot once we started craving carbs mid-drink. Haha.
With the octopus and pork, a bite of egg custard, and then the kimchi fried rice, the whole spread felt pretty filling. Even after getting fairly full, my spoon kept going back for more. Haha.
Worth a second visit for daytime or evening drinks near Suyeong Station?
Catching up with my sister over drinks after a while made the day even more memorable for me. If you're looking for something near Suyeong Station and craving a slightly different seafood snack instead of sashimi, this is worth remembering.

It was especially fun to have a dish like spicy octopus and pork where you enjoy octopus and meat together. If you're looking for a good value bar near Suyeong Station for a relaxed drink, or a spot for daytime drinking near Suyeong Station, it's worth checking out.
Next time, I'd like to just order the boiled octopus on its own and sip soju slowly, taking my time. Dari Yeodeolgae is the kind of place I'll think of again whenever I want a relaxed drink in Suyeong!! 😊
