Euljiro makchang spot with jeotgal fried rice wraps: Baegyeom Makchang
In short
Baegyeom Makchang Euljiro Main Branch is a pre-grilled makchang (pork intestine) restaurant 104 meters from Exit 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. The order was two servings of Daegu-style makchang, spicy grilled makchang and jeotgal (salted seafood) fried rice, eaten with a hand-mixed makchang dipping sauce and green onion kimchi, and the standout bite was the fried rice topped with ssamjang and mushrooms and eaten as a wrap. For thick, odor-free makchang in Euljiro, Baegyeom Makchang is the answer.

Among the many great restaurants in Euljiro, I want to recommend one I really love!! Here's my honest review of Baegyeom Makchang, which I consider Euljiro's top-tier makchang spot!

This Euljiro favorite, Baegyeom Makchang, is only about a minute's walk from Euljiro 3-ga Station, 104 meters from Exit 11 — the accessibility is amazing!! Just past the golbaengi (whelk) alley.
It's a makchang restaurant going for that old-school vibe, but since it's fairly new the facilities are clean, so no need to worry about that!!!
If there's a wait, you can join the line through Catch Table!! When I visited on a weekday evening it was nearly full, and on weekends there was a wait!!

Seating and atmosphere inside Baegyeom Makchang
Baegyeom Makchang also has outdoor seating, and now that fall is here, eating outside on a nice day would feel great!!

There are quite a lot of tables, so group reservations are possible too!! But since it's popular, definitely reserve ahead if you're coming as a group haha

You can store your belongings inside the chairs, so no worries about your stuff picking up smells, nope

All the makchang comes pre-grilled, and the owners are pre-grilling it right there inside

All the makchang is aged in an aging fridge, so there's zero funky smell whatsoever~

The restroom is inside the restaurant and separated by gender, so no need for anyone to feel awkward at all

It was a hot summer day, but the AC was running full blast so it was cool, and there's ventilation ducting up top that keeps the grilled-meat smell from sticking to you!!

Baegyeom Makchang's menu and how to order
Baegyeom Makchang's menu has plain and seasoned makchang, sundae (blood sausage), pork neck, grilled items, and even hot pot!

You order through a QR code, so no need to shout 'excuse me~~' for the owner haha

Besides makchang, there's also stew and fried rice, and I ordered two servings of Daegu-style makchang, spicy grilled makchang, and jeotgal fried rice!!

Mixing the makchang dipping sauce and the side dishes
You know the dipping sauce has to be good for makchang to work, right?! They boil and grind soybeans with real care, so of course it's delicious~

Mix that carefully prepared makchang sauce with plenty of chopped green onion and cheongyang chili and you're ready to welcome the makchang!! This sauce has to be good for it to be a real makchang restaurant!!

For side dishes, there's fresh green onion kimchi that pairs so well with makchang, along with perilla leaves, salt, and ssamjang! No unnecessary extras, just solid basics done right

Even the chopsticks come individually wrapped with Baegyeom Makchang packaging — such a thoughtful touch~~
Two servings of Daegu-style makchang: the size alone is different
The makchang's visuals are insane, right? Hahahaha the size is amazing!!! Just from the look of it, you can tell Baegyeom Makchang deserves its reputation as Euljiro's top-tier makchang spot

They slice those forearm-thick pieces of makchang thin and grill them up for a perfect result

Dip that golden-brown grilled makchang in the sauce and you don't need to go to Daegu at all!!! What funky smell?!! Chewy, nutty, and just so irresistible — pork makchang
It's a soju thief, a straight-up thief! You plan on just one bottle but end up having more thanks to this makchang
Why the jeotgal fried rice is best eaten as a wrap
One of this place's highlights is the jeotgal (salted seafood) fried rice!!! Seasoned rice piled high with squid jeotgal

I don't usually love squid jeotgal, but this is delicious!! It's got so much charm!! A flavor I'd never tried before and loved

Pile the jeotgal rice with makchang, ssamjang, and mushrooms and wrap it all up — that's genuinely heaven

The makchang itself is so good on its own that even just a dip in salt is amazing~

Spicy grilled makchang with cheese sauce
Baegyeom Makchang's spicy grilled makchang comes fully cooked like this, which is convenient too!! And it comes with onions and cheese sauce on the side

The spicy heat of the fire-grilled makchang blends with the cheese sauce and onion, and this one too really makes you nod along with Baegyeom Makchang's status as Euljiro's top-tier makchang spot!!! All my friends recommend it too — highly, highly recommend this Euljiro favorite, Baegyeom Makchang~~
