Gijang outlet restaurant revisit for shrimp anchovy pasta: Bueokgan

Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is close to home so I end up going often, and I remembered how good my meal was last time I shopped here — so I went back again to Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets.

The NORTH building, refreshed after a makeover

These days most of the shops I frequent are in the newly expanded SOUTH building, so I don't come to the older NORTH side much anymore — but walking through today, I noticed several spots had been renovated and upgraded. I also liked that there were more benches set up so you can rest in between shopping.

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is located at the very back of NORTH's first floor, right inside the escalator in front of the UGG store, with a wine shop and a SYSTEM store sharing the same building to the right. I kept thinking about the young cabbage Caesar salad and lasagna I enjoyed so much last time, so I came back again for lunch today.

Waiting area and group seating

With so many shoppers, especially on weekends, there's likely a wait, so a spacious waiting area is set up at the entrance, and the restaurant itself is quite large with plenty of group tables.

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is spacious yet very well organized, giving it a clean atmosphere for a comfortable meal. I really liked that beyond tables for 2 and 4, there are also group tables for large families to eat together.

What we ordered and the prices

• Young cabbage Caesar salad ₩16,000
• Shrimp anchovy pasta ₩18,000
• Lasagna ₩21,000

In front of the kitchen there were very neatly arranged dishes, and baby dishware and baby chairs were also plentifully prepared. Personally, that was a very satisfying detail.

Today the young cabbage Caesar salad and lasagna seemed slightly overcooked, which was a bit disappointing, but the taste was still top-notch.

Young cabbage Caesar salad ₩16,000

A Caesar salad piled with sun-dried tomatoes, bacon-cheese, onion flakes, and cheese on top of grilled young cabbage. The creamy, salty Caesar dressing added great depth, and the crunchy onion flakes throughout added extra enjoyment to the chewing. The portion was quite large, so for a light eater like me, the young cabbage Caesar salad alone could easily be a full meal.

Sometimes a dish you loved the first time disappoints you on a second try, but Bueokgan Restaurant's young cabbage Caesar salad was just as delicious as I remembered. The young cabbage, cooked just enough to stay crunchy, brought out a sweetness that kept me happy the whole way through. The onion flakes in between bites were the perfect kick.

Shrimp anchovy pasta ₩18,000

The shrimp anchovy pasta, Bueokgan's signature oil pasta where fresh shrimp and anchovy come together in harmony, wasn't heavily seasoned on its own, but topping it with a pepper made it just spicy enough. It's not a dish you find everywhere, so if you visit Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, this seems like a must-order.

Lasagna ₩21,000

Lasagna is my absolute favorite dish at Bueokgan Restaurant. It's also not something you find everywhere, so last time I happily ordered it and it was so good that I ordered it again this time. Having made lasagna in a cooking class before, I know it's a dish that takes quite a bit of work.

Boiled lasagna sheets layered with sauce and cheese and baked in the oven to finish — it would be unfair if it didn't taste good! Haha.

There was no skimping on ground meat, so both the texture and flavor were great. Even the cheese stuck to the plate was delicious. The softly cooked lasagna sheets and the sauce and cheese blended together beautifully — unlike regular pasta, it had a heavy, rich, irresistible flavor!

Why I keep coming back

Finally, I stopped by the lounge for a cup of coffee before heading home. Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets has great food, and the atmosphere is just as good. It's a place where you can shop and eat in one spot without worrying about parking, so I think it's a place I'd recommend to anyone.
