Dog-friendly mountain café in Eonyang, Ulsan: plum smoothie at MUG

Yesterday I went to MUG, a large café close to both Eonyang and Ulsan. It's surrounded by lush green mountains with a really spacious outdoor yard and walking trail, a bubble photo zone, and pet-friendly outdoor seating — perfect for a walk with kids or dogs. Let's get into the honest review ⬇️

Where MUG is and why the building is made of charred wood

MUG is located in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, with good access to Ganwoljae and the Taehwagang National Garden, and it's just a 12-minute drive from the Amethyst Cave, so you can easily combine visits.

The café was built from charred wood, having survived a major wildfire in the past, so it sits surrounded by green mountains with spacious indoor and outdoor seating and its own dedicated parking lot — a true large-scale café in Eonyang, Ulsan.

Also, every weekend the entire outdoor space fills with bubbles, giving the whole area a resort-like, storybook feeling — perfect for getting a ton of great photos.

Stepping inside, MUG is more than just a café — you can also enjoy various exhibitions.

It was nice being able to enjoy the artwork while sipping your drink, and fill up on some artistic inspiration at a leisurely pace, haha.

Inside MUG: nearly full by 3pm on a Sunday

We arrived around 3pm on a Sunday, and even though it's a café tucked in the mountains, there were so many guests — the inside was almost completely full!

The window seats had full glass walls that let you soak in the lush, green natural view.

Thanks to the overwhelming 9-meter ceiling height, stepping inside gave a sense of grandeur and openness that felt like a weight lifted off your chest.

Most of the seats were 2-4 person tables, and the share tables looked good for groups too. (There was more group seating outdoors.)

MUG drinks and bakery menu, and the best time to arrive

MUG's drink menu, a large café in Ulsan, had a wide range from coffee to tea, lattes, smoothies, ades, and seasonal items.

On the side there was a wide variety of bakery items on display, but a lot had already sold out. If you want to enjoy the full bakery lineup, I'd recommend visiting before 4pm on weekends!!

Among them, this place turned out to be famous for its cinnamon rolls~? Tiramisu, blueberry, lemon cinnamon rolls and more — lots of varieties.

There was also a microwave on one side so you could warm things up 🤍

MUG also has a genuinely spacious outdoor area, and dogs are allowed in the outdoor section🤍

There were plenty of outdoor tables both in front of and behind the café, but the back area was much bigger with more seating.

Even though it's outdoors, most of the seats were shaded, so with weather like this it was perfectly cool and pleasant to sit outside.

The ground was nicely flat and level, so it was great for kids or dogs to walk and run around. (Note: this isn't a dog café, so leashes are required!!)

Further up, there was a well-maintained trail like a hiking path, especially good for coming with your dog to walk while sipping coffee. We met lots of doggy friends that day ><

The air was so fresh, and with the cool breeze our little Ppomjji was sniffing away, totally thrilled.

How do MUG's plum smoothie, tiramisu cinnamon roll and white roll taste?

The two of us ordered a plum smoothie, iced americano, tiramisu cinnamon roll, and white roll. The plum smoothie had a sweet-tart plum flavor that filled my mouth with cool freshness — so good — and the iced americano's clean bean flavor paired perfectly with the bakery items.

The tiramisu cinnamon roll pulled apart softly along its layers, with cream cheese and espresso flavor soaked throughout — the subtle cinnamon aroma combined with sweet chocolate was so delicious.

Especially the chocolate chunks studded on top — that was totally our style, haha.

The white roll, coated generously with fluffy castella crumbs —

had a chewy, springy outside with a nutty, sweet, soft cream filling inside — a flavor everyone would like without exception :)
