What is pavlova? Dalke Dessert Cafe's menu
I stopped by Dalke Dessert Cafe, already famous among dessert lovers as a Tanbang-dong café in Daejeon. The menu has decaf beans, coffee, lattes, ades, tea, and smoothies, plus this place specializes in a dessert called pavlova! I didn't know much about pavlova, but it was pictured on the menu so I could order with reference — loved that 💛💛

The dessert lineup ranged from plain financiers to fig and churro financiers. There were also 100% milk seasonal fresh fruit bingsu (shaved ice) like mango bingsu and peach bingsu, plus square cube cakes, other cakes, macarons, dalku sandwiches, dacquoise, and brownies — lots of options to pick from based on your taste!

Inside Dalke Dessert Cafe: interior and seating
Dalke's interior has a warm, antique feel. The ordering counter and the dessert-making space next to it are separated, so you could see desserts being made through the gap in the curtain!!

Pretty potted plants and cute little knickknacks are scattered around the café, so it's fun to look around the space! The tablecloths felt like something from grandma's house — made me even fonder of the place 🤭

It's furnished with antique-feeling wooden tables and chairs, and with about 7-8 tables overall it was good for quiet conversation and enjoying dessert. Most guests were solo or in groups of 2-3, and quite a few were picking up takeout :)

The whole place felt green and lush, and the green view looking out from inside was pretty too. I came to relax quietly, and between the calm atmosphere and the plants, my mind really settled .. 🌿

The sofa seating was comfortable :) Every table had its own light too, so it wasn't dark at all!!

And the spot next to my seat had a full window, which made it feel open and not stuffy at all! It's close to Tanbang Station and a bus stop too, so it's easy to get to, and with plenty of good restaurants around, it's a nice place to drop by.

Tasting the mini pavlova fruit mix and grapefruit ade
I ordered the mini pavlova fruit mix and grapefruit ade to enjoy right there. The grapefruit ade was cool and delicious! Since I can't have coffee, I needed a cold drink to go with dessert, and it paired really well with the pavlova!!

This was my first time trying pavlova and it was delicious !!!!! Unlike a regular cake, there's no flour or butter in it, so it felt clean and light — cutting it with a knife, the outside shattered crisply while the inside was soft and chewy.

I've been eating way too much flour lately and was a bit worried, so it was amazing that something with no flour at all could taste this good. Pavlova also seemed like a great gift — it just looks so pretty… 💚

It's topped with a variety of fruit — peach, shine muscat grapes, blueberries, bananas, and more !! Every fruit on top was sweet and fresh, which paired perfectly with the meringue base 🫶🏻
Is Dalke Dessert Cafe worth a visit?
A Tanbang-dong café with special, delicious desserts and an antique atmosphere that somehow grows on you — that's Dalke Dessert Cafe! The pavlova was so good I'm planning to go back for more. If you're looking for a great dessert spot in Tanbang-dong, I recommend Dalke Dessert Cafe!
