3pm waiting line at this Seongsu restaurant: spicy cream pasta

In short

Seongsu Darak is a brunch and pasta restaurant on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Ttukseom-ro 9-gil near Seongsu Station in Seoul. Even at 3pm there was a waiting line and plenty of foreign customers, and the writer ordered darak omurice, spicy cream pasta and katsu sando. The spicy cream pasta, with its thick sauce and generous shrimp, was the standout dish.

I had somewhere to be near Seongsu Station, so I figured I'd grab a nice lunch while I was at it haha. Seongsu has so many great restaurants and cafés that I couldn't decide where to go, but this time I ended up at Seongsu Darak, well known as a Seongsu brunch and pasta spot. The vibe was great and the menu was varied, so it seemed like a solid pick for a Seongsu date course too!

Where's the entrance to Seongsu Darak? Look for the small white door

Seongsu Darak is close to Seongsu Station, which makes it convenient if you're already dating around the area or hunting for good food. But when I first followed the map there, even after arriving I was like "wait... where's the entrance?" lolol. I found the building but couldn't spot the storefront, so I looked around for a minute — turns out that little white door is the entrance to Seongsu Darak. (Not the brown door!! lol) Open the door and you're right at a staircase leading up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Maybe because the name means "attic," it genuinely felt like climbing up into an attic, which made the entrance fun from the start.

A waiting line even at 3pm, and plenty of foreign customers

I got there around 3pm, and there were way more people than I expected. I figured this time of day would be quiet, but there was actually a wait. It made me realize Seongsu Darak is more popular than I'd assumed. And once inside, there were so many foreign customers! I knew Seongsu draws a lot of foreign tourists, but I'd never seen a restaurant with quite this many foreign guests before, which surprised me lol. It seems to be pretty famous among international visitors too.

The vibe on the 3rd floor

After the wait, we were shown up to the 3rd floor, and the overall vibe was bright and clean — a great setting for a meal on a date. I especially liked that it wasn't dark or heavy, but bright and comfortable instead. Personally, I'd recommend it as a Seongsu date course restaurant!

The three dishes we ordered

We ordered three things: darak omurice, spicy cream pasta, and katsu sando.

Darak omurice — the egg-cutting performance

First up, one of Seongsu Darak's signature dishes — darak omurice! When you order it, they perform a little show cutting open the egg on top with a knife haha. Once it's split open, you find fried rice inside, with soft, fluffy egg and sauce layered on top. The soft egg and sweet sauce make it a crowd-pleaser that's easy for everyone to enjoy. The knife-cutting performance right in front of you also makes it fun to watch the first time you order it haha.

Spicy cream pasta — how spicy is it, really?

And the dish I enjoyed the most was the spicy cream pasta! With "spicy" in the name, I wondered if it would be really hot, but it turned out milder than expected. Just a touch of spice that cuts through the richness of the cream sauce, so even people who aren't great with spicy food shouldn't find it too much. Best of all, the sauce is quite thick, so it clung nicely to the noodles and tasted great. It also had plenty of shrimp, which I loved!! Of the three dishes we ordered, this spicy cream pasta was personally my favorite haha.

Katsu sando — a good side to share

Last was the katsu sando! It's a katsu sando with a thick cut of meat, and you can really feel that texture as you bite in. Paired with the house-made sauce that came alongside, it went together better than I expected haha. It's a good side dish to order and share when just ordering pasta or omurice feels like it's not quite enough.

Overall verdict on Seongsu Darak

Overall, Seongsu Darak is worth a visit if you're looking for a nice-vibe Western food restaurant near Seongsu Station. The entrance alone was distinctive — walking through the small white door and climbing the stairs like heading up to an attic lol — and the interior was bright and clean too. Given there was a wait even at an odd hour like 3pm, and so many foreign customers, it seems to be quite the well-known spot in Seongsu. As for the menu, I personally recommend the spicy cream pasta! The sauce is thick and creamy, loaded with shrimp, and not overly spicy, so I enjoyed it a lot.
