Gangneung café with lawn terrace seats and house blend: Coffee Dripper

While looking for a Gangneung café with a nice outdoor spot, I found Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong!

It looked good in photos, so I visited, and in person the terrace was even prettier and the interior was clean too — a Gangneung café I'd definitely recommend.

On top of the atmosphere, it's a roastery café that's been roasting its own beans since 2012, so I went in with high expectations for the coffee too.

Where Coffee Dripper is and how to get there

Coffee Dripper is located at 229-4 Nanseolheon-ro, 1st floor, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea.

It's inside Chodang Tofu Village, so it's easy to swing by for coffee after a meal, and it's said to be about a 10-minute walk from Gangmun Beach.

It's not far from Gangneung Station either, so it fits naturally into a Chodang-dong café itinerary.

If you're planning to explore Chodang Tofu Village or Gangmun Beach anyway, this works well as part of a Gangneung sightseeing course.

Private parking for 13 cars

Whether there's parking matters a lot when you're visiting a café while traveling.

Coffee Dripper has its own lot with room for about 13 cars, which made it convenient to visit by car.

In a neighborhood like Chodang-dong where tourists flock, parking can sometimes make or break your café choice, so having dedicated parking was definitely a plus.

So this is an easy Gangneung café to recommend to anyone getting around by car!

Coffee Dripper hours and closing day

Hours run from 10 AM to 6 PM, and it's closed every Tuesday.

If you're planning a visit during a Gangneung trip, just remember to check that Tuesday closure.

What the lawn terrace seating is like

The biggest reason I went looking for Coffee Dripper in the first place was the terrace.

The outdoor space, with grass blending into a lush green scenery, was so pretty.

On a nice day, sitting on the terrace with a coffee instead of indoors would really feel like you're properly on vacation!

This would suit people looking for a Gangneung date café where you can sit and chat comfortably, rather than a huge, crowded café.

Personally, this is one of the Gangneung cafés I'd want to revisit just for the atmosphere.

Inside Coffee Dripper: airy room and group tables

Step inside and you're greeted by a clean interior blending wood tones with bright colors.

The floor-to-ceiling windows let the green scenery outside show through, so even sitting indoors didn't feel stuffy, and the space itself felt spacious.

They also run group seating, so it looked good for visiting with several people, and the tables weren't packed too tightly together, making it comfortable to linger.

Both the terrace and the indoor atmosphere are pretty, so I'd recommend it as a Gangneung date café too!

Coffee Dripper menu

The menu has more variety than I expected.

From the signature Dripper latte to a choco cone latte where the cone itself acts as the cup, coffee soft serve, sundubu (tofu) pudding made with Chodang tofu, pine forest matcha latte, and sunset lemonade — there are quite a lot of signature menu items.

They also have croffins — croissant dough baked like a muffin — in black sesame, vanilla, and chocolate, so it's a good Gangneung café pick if you want dessert alongside your coffee.

A roastery café roasting its own beans since 2012

Coffee Dripper has been hand-dripping coffee with beans roasted in-house since 2012, starting out in Gangneung's Gyo-dong neighborhood.

True to a roastery café with over ten years behind it, there's a wide variety of beans, and you can even buy the roasted beans separately.

If you're a coffee lover, browsing the beans is fun in itself!

On one side there were also goods like cups and t-shirts, nice for a quick browse while waiting for your drink.

This is a Chodang-dong café that suits not just people who care about atmosphere, but also those who take the coffee itself seriously.

How the signature cream latte and Dripper house blend taste

Why is it always so nice to sit at a café while traveling with a drink in front of you, taking a break, haha.

From the terrace atmosphere to the drinks, everything photographs well, so I'd recommend this to anyone looking for things to do in Gangneung.

We ordered the Dripper Signature Cream Latte, an Iced Americano, and the Dripper House Blend.

The signature cream latte adds white chocolate and almond, and the smooth cream with a nutty almond flavor made it lovely to sip, sweet and satisfying.

The iced americano was clean and easy to drink.

True to the café's flagship coffee, the Dripper House Blend had a heavy, weighty feel while still going down smoothly, which was good for taking time to enjoy the coffee itself.

Since they roast their own beans, the coffee menu itself was satisfying too — this wasn't a Gangneung café I'd recommend based on atmosphere alone.

Who should stop at Coffee Dripper on a Gangneung trip

I originally went just because the terrace, the kind of thing I like, looked pretty — but visiting in person, both the space and the coffee were solid, which was satisfying.

With a location easy to pair with Chodang Tofu Village or Gangmun Beach, dedicated parking, and coffee roasted in-house alongside distinctive signature menu items, it was a great place to rest during a Gangneung trip.
