Today I went shopping for tteok (rice cakes) that my whole family loves. It's Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch! My family all loves tteok, but funnily enough, we all love completely different kinds haha. So instead of buying just one type, we like picking a bunch of different ones. I'll go into detail on the shop and the tteok varieties, so this should also be useful for anyone looking into Cheongju 100-day or first-birthday tteok sets.
Where is Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, and what are its hours?
Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch is on the 1st floor of 94 Gonghang-ro, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. The hours posted at the entrance were 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The big Tteokmama sign was easy to spot even from a distance.
There were several banners in front of the entrance, and right in season, there was a big banner announcing 2026 Chuseok songpyeon reservations.
I was already curious about the tteok varieties from outside, so let's go in haha.
Inside Tteokmama Yullyang: bright, clean and café-like
Walking into Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, it was brighter and cleaner than I expected.
Instead of the usual rice cake shop feel where you just pack up and leave, they had tables and chairs, so it felt more like a dessert café.
On one side there was a drink fridge, and I also spotted cold-pressed juices made with fruits and vegetables. And now for the most important part — the tteok! There were so many varieties on display that it was fun just looking through them one by one.
What kinds of tteok does Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang sell?
The display case at Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch had everything from tteok I see all the time to colorful, pretty ones I don't.
There were also tteok topped with fruit like strawberries or shine muscat grapes, so the visuals really caught my eye.
I wanted to try this, and I wanted to try that too haha.

Three family members, three different tteok picks
At Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, each of us picked what we wanted to eat. My son chose white sulgi (steamed rice cake) and kkultteok (honey-filled rice cake).
My husband chose songpyeon (half-moon rice cake).
And I chose strawberry white sulgi and black sesame tteok!
Our family really doesn't agree on tteok at all haha. But honestly, that made it even better. Instead of buying a lot of one kind, we each picked what we liked and got to eat several different kinds together.
My son ate what he liked, my husband got his songpyeon, and I picked according to my own taste~ Even though everyone's palate in the family is different, having so many varieties meant everyone could eat what they wanted, and I kind of loved that haha.
Chuseok songpyeon reservation prices at Tteokmama Yullyang
In front of Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, there was also a Chuseok songpyeon reservation banner.
As of my visit, the five-color sesame songpyeon and bean songpyeon were listed at ₩18,000 per 1kg, or ₩35,000 for a 2kg gift package, while the mosi songpyeon (cowpea and sesame) were ₩20,000 per 1kg, or ₩39,000 for a 2kg gift package. The 2kg gift package even includes premium cloth wrapping, so it seemed like a solid option for a holiday gift.
There was also a note about a 10% discount for reservations made via Naver Band. Prices and promotions are as of my visit, so please double-check before you book^^
Is Tteokmama Yullyang worth it? The variety makes the trip
If your household is like mine — everyone loves tteok but everyone likes something different — having a wide variety definitely helps. My son had white sulgi and honey tteok, my husband had songpyeon, and I had strawberry white sulgi and black sesame tteok~ Being able to each pick what we liked and share several kinds together was my favorite part haha.
