Suwon café for a quiet fourth-floor break: Jeong Ji-young Coffee
In short
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a five-story café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. I had its signature coconut coffee and a flat white with my boyfriend, then took a quiet break among music and books on the fourth floor. Verdict: a lovely stop when a Haenggung-dong date calls for a pause rather than conversation.

It had been a while since my boyfriend and I had gone on a date in Haenggung-dong, and we wanted to rest somewhere quiet over coffee, so we visited Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch. I had passed it before, but the whole building is Jeong Ji-young Coffee, so it was much bigger than I expected~

I had tried Jeong Ji-young Coffee at a coffee fair before, and it was so good haha.

So this time, I tried the signature coconut coffee at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch haha.
Ordering and floors at Jeong Ji-young Coffee in Haenggung-dong

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Haenggung Main Branch occupies a five-story building, and you order coffee on basement level 1!! You can drink your order on the second, fourth, or fifth floor, and it operates as a no-kids zone.

After ordering, we went up to the fourth floor, and the coffee carrier was so interesting~ I expected a tray, but they put the coffees in a carrier shaped like an egg carton.

We had to order downstairs and take the stairs up, but carrying coffee in it felt much more stable and less worrying than I expected haha.
Signature coconut coffee and flat white
We ordered Jeong Ji-young Coffee's signature coconut coffee and a flat white. Since we were at Jeong Ji-young Coffee, I thought we had to try a signature drink at least once, so I chose the coconut coffee and my boyfriend ordered the flat white.
The coconut coffee has coffee cream on top of coconut milk, so the layers are separated at first. They told us to mix it well before drinking~
What did Jeong Ji-young Coffee's coconut coffee taste like?
Honestly, I was a little worried about the coconut coffee because coconut drinks can sometimes have that distinctive fishy tasteㅠㅠ

But once I tried it, I could barely taste the fishiness I had worried about. The coconut milk and coffee cream blended together smoothly~ It was not overly sweet, and the nutty coconut flavor was followed by coffee's gentle bitterness, so they went together better than I expected~
After a few sips, I could see why coconut coffee is Jeong Ji-young Coffee's signature menu haha.
A large Haenggung-dong café with music and books on the fourth floor

We drank our coffee on the fourth floor, where soft music was playing and there were books, making it a space where you could focus a little more on music and reading~ Looking around, quite a few people were reading alone, and overall the conversations were not loud, so it was great for a quiet rest. We chatted about this and that at first, but at some point we were each just listening to music and quietly drinking our coffee haha.
I had been tired all week from work, but drinking coconut coffee while listening to quiet music made it feel as if some of the built-up fatigue was lifting~

I also loved being able to look out over Haenggung-dong from the fourth floor. It is a neighborhood I normally see while walking through its alleys, but looking down on it from above felt completely different~
A large café for a quiet break during a Haenggung-dong date

My boyfriend and I often visit cafés in Haenggung-dong, and Jeong Ji-young Coffee's fourth floor was a nice place to take a break by listening to music or reading, rather than only talking in a café!! I have a few books that I bought and kept putting off until “next time,” so I thought I should bring one along and read it next time haha.

They also had a fig sando and fig cake that day, and they looked so delicious~ I debated for ages over whether to get them, but we had gone to the café after a meal, so I gave up on the cakeㅠㅠ

It had been a while since my boyfriend and I had wandered around Haenggung-dong, and ending our date with good food and coffee at a quiet café felt just right~
Before fig season ends, I should come back to read a book with fig cake and coconut coffee haha.
