Last weekend I went with my kids to Omil Daehangno branch near Hyehwa Station. Sharing our review of the delicious omurice we had at Omil Daehangno before heading off to the National Children's Science Museum and Changgyeonggung Palace~

How to get to Omil Hyehwa Daehangno from Hyehwa Station
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is 🚇 163m (2 minutes) from Hyehwa Station Line 4 Exit 4, located on the 2nd floor.
Arriving before 5pm on a weekend: a 10-minute wait
Head up to the 2nd floor of the building where Omil's cute sign is visible and you'll find the restaurant.
We arrived at ten to 5pm on the weekend, and the place was already packed with customers who'd come in since break time ended at 4:30, so we left our contact info on the waitlist and waited.
After leaving our number and wandering around outside for about 10 minutes, we got the call pretty quickly and were seated.
Tips for eating at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno with kids
If you make a Naver reservation ahead of time, you can eat right away without waiting^^
High chairs and the self-serve corner
Next to the self-serve corner, there are baby chairs ready for customers who come with kids,
and the self-serve corner has water, tissues, wet wipes, and side dishes, plus phone charging.
What's on the menu at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno
As a western restaurant, the main menu has steak, pasta, omurice, and risotto, while the side menu has buckwheat soba maki (buckwheat gimbap), corn fritters, and french fries.

Rubber duck omurice (16,900 won)
Wait, what is this~
😎 A rubber duck wearing sunglasses on a tube float and baby ducks under an umbrella stole the show, they were so cute.
My two daughters said at the same time, how can we eat something this cute, it's too cute to eat, take pictures first—
but once they'd finished taking 📷 photos, they boldly cut the omurice right in half and started eating^^;;
After one bite they said they'd never had omurice this good, and quickly forgot how cute it was and just dug in~
Sizzling cheese katsu (19,900 won)
The cheese katsu show right before our eyes!!!
They brought a piping hot iron plate to the table and poured the cheese sauce on it themselves.
The plate was so hot that the cheese sauce kept sizzling for a long while.
I ordered the sizzling cheese katsu for our resident cheese lover, and she happily watched the cheese sauce overflow.
Cutting the cheese-sauce-coated katsu in half revealed cheese stuffed inside too — a true menu item for cheese lovers.
Buckwheat soba maki, or buckwheat gimbap (12,900 won)
Last, I ordered the buckwheat gimbap (seaweed rice roll) for myself since I love gimbap. Honestly, buckwheat gimbap felt unusual at a restaurant that's mostly western food — I was about to order fries instead, but I saw a blog review saying the buckwheat gimbap was delicious, so I ordered it.
Buckwheat noodles stand in for rice, and inside are thick egg omelette strips, cucumber, burdock root, fried tofu skin, and red onion — what do you think it tastes like from the photos? It was my first time trying buckwheat gimbap and it was genuinely delicious. I was going to enjoy it all to myself, but I gave the kids a taste to say it was good, and they stopped eating their omurice to ask me to save them some buckwheat gimbap^^;;

Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth a family dinner?
We all really enjoyed every dish at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno with the kids. As we were eating, I noticed people from the National Children's Science Museum sitting at the table next to us. Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a great restaurant to eat at when visiting the National Children's Science Museum or Changgyeonggung Palace with kids, so I recommend it!! 👍
