Right across from Yeongildae Beach! Starting my honest review of Ppwang Mulhoe, famous for its mulhoe among Pohang restaurants.

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my review of Ppwang Mulhoe (퐝물회), a mulhoe specialist located right in front of Yeongildae Beach — pretty much a must-visit spot in Pohang. If you go to Pohang, you have to have a bowl of mulhoe, right? Among all the options, I picked this one for its great reviews and easy access.

Where is Ppwang Mulhoe, and can you park out front?
Directly across from Yeongildae Beach — accessibility is amazing!

Ppwang Mulhoe's biggest advantage is its location. It sits directly across from the Yeongildae Beach coastal road, so it's really easy to find. It's the perfect spot to duck into when you get hungry mid-walk along the ocean. On top of that, parking is available right in front of the restaurant, so visiting by car wasn't a hassle at all. Parking near Yeongildae isn't easy to find, so having a dedicated parking space was a huge plus.

How long is the wait, and are the staff friendly?
Seriously packed with people & yet seriously friendly!

Living up to its reputation, I was shocked by the huge crowd as soon as I walked into Ppwang Mulhoe. Every table was full, and there was quite a wait. I thought, "Ah, this really is a famous Pohang restaurant known for mulhoe." But what surprised me was that even in the middle of the rush, the staff were genuinely kind. I was touched watching them take orders with a smile and carefully check if we needed anything, without ever losing their composure despite how busy and chaotic it must have been. Their kindness put me in a good mood even before the food arrived.

How does the half-and-half mulhoe (squid + flounder) taste?
Freshness itself! After mulling over the menu, I ordered the 'half-and-half mulhoe,' which lets you enjoy squid and flounder sashimi at the same time. I picked it because I wanted to try both, and it was an excellent choice! The moment the dish arrived, I was amazed by how it looked. Under the generous portion of sashimi, fresh vegetables and a spicy-sweet sauce came together in a way that got my mouth watering.

Above all, the squid and flounder sashimi were truly fresh and delicious! The squid was chewy yet tender, and the flounder had a rich, clean flavor that stood out. There was no fishy smell at all — just the freshness of something just caught, filling my mouth. The sauce wasn't too spicy or too sweet either, striking just the right savory balance that brought out the flavor of the sashimi even more. It was great mixed with rice, and just as good with thin wheat noodles added in.

What side dishes are on the self bar?
I also loved that you can grab as many extra side dishes as you want from the self bar.

Ppwang Mulhoe in Pohang was satisfying on every front — taste, location, and service. You can enjoy fresh sashimi right in front of Yeongildae Beach, and parking out front makes it easy to get to. Even with the huge crowd, the staff were genuinely kind, which made for a really pleasant meal.

The squid and flounder sashimi were truly fresh and delicious — freshness itself. I highly recommend trying the half-and-half mulhoe. If you're looking for a Pohang restaurant famous for mulhoe during your trip, don't hesitate to visit Ppwang Mulhoe!

Is Ppwang Mulhoe worth the queue? Final verdict
Ppwang Mulhoe in Pohang wasn't just about the outstanding freshness of the main sashimi — the side dishes and overall atmosphere that rounded out the meal were also on point, leaving me satisfied right up to the last bite. Every single side dish served with the sashimi felt made with real care.
The staff's friendly, quick service made the whole meal feel like being taken care of, which made the time at Ppwang Mulhoe even more special. Pohang has so many mulhoe restaurants that it's easy to get overwhelmed choosing one, but this meal made it clear why so many people come here.
With natural freshness of ingredients, clean flavors, and kindness all coming together, this is a place I can confidently recommend to people around me. It was the best spread capturing the taste of the Pohang sea, and I plan to head straight back to Ppwang Mulhoe without hesitation on my next visit to Pohang!
