When you eat out with a kid, sometimes you just want something other than the usual go-to dishes. This time I was craving Indian food, so I went to Kari in Jeongja-dong.

I usually only think of curry and naan when it comes to Indian food, but this place had a surprisingly wide menu, so it was fun picking out different things. What really got me excited was that the chefs here have over 10 years of experience working at five-star hotels in India, so I went in with pretty high expectations haha.
What kind of place is Kari, the Indian restaurant in Jeongja-dong?
Kari (KARI) is a Blue Ribbon-certified restaurant, recognized as a model restaurant in Jeongja-dong every year from 2017 to 2026.

The chefs, who each have more than 10 years of experience at five-star hotels in India, cook here directly, and the restaurant uses fresh spices from Tamil Nadu, a famous spice-producing region of India. Maybe that's why you can enjoy an authentic taste here — not just in the curry, but in the naan and other Indian dishes too.
Location and parking — 5-minute walk from Jeongja Station Exit 5

Kari is on the basement level of the Dongyang Paragon building, close to Jeongja Station. It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 5, and there's a bus stop nearby too, so it's easy to reach by public transit.

Also, even though it's right by a subway station, the parking situation is well set up, so it's convenient to visit by car too. I drove there myself and had no trouble parking.

You can use either the first floor or the basement of the building, but since Kari is on the basement level, the basement parking lot is a bit more convenient to get to the restaurant.
The vibe — good for kids and for groups alike

Walking in, the atmosphere is definitely different from your typical curry house. It keeps that distinct Indian, exotic feel while still looking clean and upscale overall. That made it seem like a good spot not just for family meals with kids, but for dates or get-togethers too.
The space is spacious and the tables have plenty of room between them, so it was comfortable to sit and eat with my kid. There are baby chairs and kids' tableware available too, so families with young children would find it easy to visit. There are also private rooms and group seating, which would work well for gatherings or meals with several people. And by the way, there's no weekday break time!
There was even a Taj Mahal model made of Lego blocks in one corner, and my kid was really into looking at it :)
What's on the menu?

Kari's menu is really more varied than you'd expect.

Just for curries, there's korma, tikka masala, makhani, do pyaza, vindaloo, kadai, butter chicken, and more. And for naan, you can pick from plain, butter, garlic, honey butter, onion, and other varieties.

Beyond curry and naan, there's also biryani, tandoori dishes, and various Indian appetizers, so if it's your first visit you'll end up staring at the menu for quite a while trying to decide haha.

Since we were dining with a kid, we mostly picked dishes that were mild rather than too intense.
- Korma curry
- Garlic naan
- Aloo paratha
- Masala dosa
- Turmeric rice
What we tried
Korma curry — not spicy, good for kids
Since we were eating with a kid, we picked the no-spice option. It's creamy and mild, so it worked well even for a child who's not great with strong spices or heat. There's still that distinct curry aroma, but it wasn't strongly spicy, and my kid ate it happily with the turmeric rice!

Garlic naan — warm and chewy, fresh out of the oven
You can't come for Indian food and skip the naan. This time we ordered garlic naan, and the subtle garlic flavor went really well with the curry.

Fresh-out naan is warm and chewy, so it's delicious just torn and eaten plain, and it's a whole different experience dipped in curry. Indian food is honestly more comfortable eaten by hand, so my kid and I tore it apart with our hands and ate it up like real locals 🤣

Aloo paratha — Indian-style bread with potato
Aloo paratha was something I tried for the first time here. It's Indian-style bread with potato inside, so it had a totally different feel from naan.

The outside is plain and light, while the inside has a soft, warm flavor — and even one piece is pretty filling. Personally, if you haven't tried paratha yet, I'd recommend ordering one!

Just like naan, it's really tasty dipped in curry too.

Masala dosa — thin, crispy, tastes like a potato pancake
Out of everything we ordered this time, the masala dosa caught my eye the most! Apparently Kari is the only place in Korea serving Indian dosa, so there was no way I could skip it 👍

When it arrived at the table, its long, thin shape already made it clear this was a different kind of dish.

You add whichever of the four sauces you like, and it's crispy since it's thin, tasting a bit like a Korean potato pancake — a dish that shouldn't really divide opinions much.

Fill up mainly on curry with naan, paratha, or rice, and treat the dosa more like a side — that way you'll be satisfied. Thanks to Kari's varied menu, it was great to get to experience several different Indian dishes in one meal 😆 And of course, the taste exceeded expectations too 💛
Wrapping up — who would I recommend this to?

This time I visited Kari, an Indian restaurant in Jeongja-dong, with my kid. Instead of just ordering curry alone, we got naan, rice, paratha, and dosa too and shared everything, so both the adult and the kid enjoyed the meal. If you're looking for something special to eat in Jeongja-dong, or searching for a great Indian restaurant in Bundang, give Kari a try and take your time working through the menu~!
