Songpa Korean restaurant for beef sirloin near Olympic Park: Hantiok

In short

Hantiok is a Korean restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, serving Korean beef sirloin and LA galbi near Olympic Park. The 200 g sirloin was lean and clean-tasting, while the ₩29,000 LA galbi was tender with pleasantly mild seasoning. Verdict: I’d come back craving beef and order more LA galbi.

Where is Hantiok, and what about parking?

Hantiok (한티옥) is near Bangi Station, around 600 m from Exit 4 on Line 5. We drove and used valet parking for ₩3,000! Or, there’s also Songpa Public Parking Lot on the main road right in front of Hantiok. It was ₩3,000 per hour.

They’ve newly opened a kids’ playroom too, so I saw quite a few families visiting with children haha.

Hantiok has a varied menu. It’s known for Andong guksu (Andong-style noodle soup), Andong gukbap (rice soup), and pork galbi, and Andong guksu seems to be the main dish featured by mukbang YouTubers like Hibab and on TV too. But we were really craving beef that day haha, so this is what we ordered!

What we ordered: 1+ Korean beef sirloin, 200 g (₩18,000 × 2) LA galbi (₩29,000) Steamed rice (₩1,000)

Just a heads-up: you need to start with at least two servings of meat before you can order other dishes. For example, one 100 g serving of Korean beef plus one serving of LA galbi isn’t possible!

A spotless interior and self-serve bar

The interior was so spotless, like a newly opened restaurant, right~? It really felt like an Olympic Park favorite, given that celebrities such as G-Dragon and Zo In-sung, as well as Ahn Jung-hwan and athletes from the 1988 Olympics, have visited haha.

Clean interior of Hantiok

There were plenty of side dishes too: ssam vegetables (wrap greens), salad, pickled onions, marinated onions, green onion kimchi, seasoned perilla leaves, cabbage salad, napa cabbage kimchi, pickled shiitake mushrooms, plus basic ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), wasabi, garlic, and more.

I loved that you could refill not only the wrap greens but every banchan (Korean side dish) at the self-serve bar.

How the Korean beef sirloin and LA galbi tasted

And ta-da—today’s stars, 200 g of Korean beef sirloin and one serving of LA galbi, arrived!

Korean beef sirloin and LA galbi

We grilled the sirloin first! Grilling service isn’t included, so we busily grilled and cut it ourselves haha.

The taste of Korean beef for the first time in ages! ㅠㅠ At home, I usually end up cooking only pork or chicken... For some reason, beef just doesn’t make its way into my cart when I’m grocery shopping lol. So it felt even more like a long-awaited Korean beef meal.

Grilled Korean beef sirloin

I wondered whether the sirloin would be rich, but it wasn’t very fatty, so it was clean-tasting and had a nice chew.

The side dishes we ate with it all leaned sweet, so they’d be perfect for anyone who likes sweeter banchan haha. I think I refilled the salad greens and cabbage salad a lot~

Refilled salad and side dishes

And here’s the LA galbi! It was totally melt-in-your-mouth tender. Maybe because it had been so long, it tasted even better~! Next time, I think I’ll order two servings of LA galbi.

The seasoning was milder than I expected, which I actually liked haha. The rice was plump and tasty too, so it was a total rice thief.
