My husband and I were on a date in Yeoksam and suddenly craved a spicy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), so we headed to Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch. Honestly this was my first time trying the Jjamppong Jijon chain at all. ✨ Spoiler: it ended up being one of the best Chinese meals I've had in a while. ✨

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Yeoksam Station. It's easy to reach on foot from the station, and there's also parking space right in front of the restaurant — the valet staff were friendly and helpful, so it was convenient even if you drive.

I imagine a lot of office workers looking for a Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant on weekdays would appreciate this — the restaurant itself is huge, making it great for groups too.

Inside, there's also a section somewhat separated from the general seating, which looked good for group meals or gatherings.

The first thing I noticed walking in was — wow, this place is really spacious!

The tables weren't crammed together and the overall layout felt open, so we could settle in comfortably. The kitchen has a glass wall so you can see inside, giving an open-kitchen feel where you can watch the cooking.

At times you could even see flames shooting up, which was oddly entertaining to watch while waiting for food.

and there was even a phone charging cable, a small but genuinely useful touch. These solid basics made a great first impression. 💗

A self-serve bar that even wraps hair ties individually

While waiting for our order, we checked out the self-serve corner.

There were pickled mustard greens, danmuji (pickled radish), kimchi, onion and black bean sauce — good basic side dishes to pair with Chinese food, and you could take as much as you needed.

But what impressed me the most was something else entirely. The hair ties were individually wrapped, one by one! Having something like that prepared is such a thoughtful touch…!

There were also aprons, baby-sized spoons and plates, scissors, and a ladle available, so any item you needed was easy to grab.

And finally, the signature jjamppong arrived.

Just looking at that vivid red broth already made it look delicious, and after one spoonful I immediately locked eyes with my husband. This jjamppong is seriously good. It wasn't just spicy and intense — you could really taste a deep, rich flavor that seemed to come straight from the seafood.

There was a good amount of shellfish in it, which gave the broth a strong, refreshing seafood flavor. It was also loaded with ingredients like napa cabbage and wood ear mushrooms, plus quail eggs to pick out and enjoy. The finely chopped chives on top were a nice touch too.

The fragrance and crunch of the chives amid the spicy broth made the jjamppong flavor come alive even more. This is honestly one of the best jjamppongs I've ever had. 👀 If you're searching for a Yeoksam Station lunch Chinese restaurant and you love jjamppong, you have to try this.

Is the jjajangmyeon good too? Order it one level spicier

Actually, the dish that surprised me the most was the jjajangmyeon.

Pretty green peas were placed on top, and the sauce was loaded with pork, onion, and potato. The moment I mixed it with my chopsticks, I could feel how moist it was! The sauce clung to every strand of noodle without feeling heavy, mixing together beautifully smooth.

We chose one level spicier than the basic version, and it turned out to be a genius move. It's a totally different kind of spicy than just sprinkling on red pepper powder! The sweet, savory jjajang flavor stayed intact while a slight kick of heat came through at the end, so it never got boring.

We came for the jjamppong but ended up saying, "Wait, their jjajang is really good too?"

And the last dish was Sichuan sweet and sour pork. This one surprised me the moment I took a bite, just from the texture.

Inside, the meat was thick and generous, and the outer coating, made with glutinous rice batter, was incredibly chewy. Unlike typical sweet and sour pork that's just crispy, this had a chewy bite that stayed alive the more you chewed, making it hard to stop eating.

It paired really well with the spicy-sweet Sichuan sauce, and the combination of topping it with the onions served alongside was the best part. The crisp, sharp onion cut through the richness between the Sichuan sauce and glutinous pork, making it taste much cleaner.

Between the two of us, we ordered jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and Sichuan sweet and sour pork — practically enough for three people. And we finished every single bite.

Free drinks at Jjamppong Jijon, from yuja tea to blue lemonade

After the meal, there were free drinks to enjoy too. The self-serve corner had yuzu tea and blue lemonade ready, plus a separate coffee machine so you could finish off with a cup of coffee after eating.

Besides coffee, it looked like you could also get barley tea, hot chocolate, café latte, and more.

It was nice not having to find a café right after the meal for a quick drink, and it would be lovely to sip one at the outdoor tables too.

Clean indoor restrooms for men and women

Personally, when I review restaurants, the restroom is something I quietly pay close attention to.

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch has separate men's and women's restrooms indoors, and they were kept clean overall. From the dining room to the self-serve bar to the restrooms, everything was well maintained, so I never felt uncomfortable during the meal.
