I went to Momentium, a hair salon near Manchon Station! I'd seen their recent portfolio and reviews and liked what I saw, so this is my write-up of a men's cut and color at Momentium in Daegu. A place with great taste that does sharp cuts and colors — recommended if you like a high-sensibility one-person salon!!

How far is Momentium from Manchon Station, and where do you park?

Momentium is within 300m of Manchon Station, so being near the subway made it easy to find. There are countless salons around the Beomeo-Manchon line, but this one's location made it especially convenient. It's right behind the Seohan Forest officetel near Manchon Station, and there's some street parking available in the alley!!

The consultation: a cut with length and a gray tone-down color

A vanilla-toned sign, a stylish black-and-white interior — Momentium in Manchon-dong, Daegu had such a nice vibe and looked so pretty🫠 The owner was gorgeous too. Kind of a Yoo In-na/IU composite vibe... she had a mask on so I couldn't see her whole face, but her face size looked like it belonged to a different species of human... I was too shy to say anything in front of her, but the moment we stepped outside, both my wife and I immediately said 'the owner is seriously pretty' hahaha

Next up, the serious consultation talk with the owner.

Can a cut alone settle puffy men's hair without a down perm?

Since my hair type tends to puff up, I considered getting a down perm along with the color, but the owner gave conscientious advice — doing a perm and color at the same time can damage the hair. As non-experts we might not have known any better if she'd just gone ahead with it, but she really thought about hair health and kept checking the scalp throughout ㅠㅠ It was surprising to see the hair settle down so calmly with just a cut, no down perm needed... she clearly has serious cutting skill.

She switched between scissors and clippers, carefully trimming both horizontally and vertically to refine the texture. Even when thinning out the hair, you could see her working with the angle of the head shape in mind. Found a true cutting master at this Manchon Station salon... After the cut, the hair calmed right down, the hairline from sideburns to the back of the neck narrowed and looked more refined, and the head shape looked smaller and prettier than before.

Gray coverage color at Momentium, without the sting

Next up, the main event — color! But seriously, why do the grays keep coming!! Individual freedom traded for household peace, and a gray-hair ending😮 Before the coloring, she applied skin protectant thoroughly all around the hairline, from the back of the neck to the forehead. It was reassuring how she kept checking my scalp throughout. With the scalp protectant on, there was zero stinging during the process.

A little coffee break 😮 She made a really good iced Americano. Among the snacks she offered, the butter cookies were genuinely delicious — the best snack I've ever had at a hair salon 🙂 Had a little small talk with the sweet, warm owner.

Momentium's massage-chair shampoo room, a little paradise

Introducing paradise on earth. The owner never brags about anything, so let me brag on her behalf — this super-premium massage-chair shampoo room is Momentium's real showpiece. You get a full-body massage while receiving shampoo therapy.

"Is the water temperature okay?" "Yes... this is paradise on earth."

My husband confessed the shocking story that up until now he'd always scratched his scalp with his fingernails during shampoo... obviously you're supposed to use your palms and fingerprints, right?? Freshly re-taught proper shampoo technique today, Mr. Paradise-on-Earth said he was very happy with how well she shampooed his hair.

The finished cut and color: how the men's hair turned out

The final final touch-up cut. I thought we were done, but after the shampoo, there was another round of trimming. She was so thorough with the basics yet fast and skilled that there wasn't much to even ask. What stood out was her finishing the cut with fine vertical trims!! The color came out clean, tone-down, with no patchiness at all. Went from looking old-ish to suddenly an autumn man haha.

I usually never get a perm and barely style my hair, so I had some anxiety about perms in general, but after this one-off simulation it seemed pretty solid... might be worth trying a C-curl perm next time. She served good coffee and snacks, took care of scalp health and style meticulously, and even though it was my first visit, it felt as comfortable as if I'd been there several times already.
