Root straightening for curly hair at Momentium, a Daegu hair salon

It was about time for another magic straightening treatment, so I went to Momentium, a Manchon-dong, Daegu hair salon known for great magic straightening!

The difference is huge, right? Hahaha, let me start the review by showing before and after photos of the magic straightening treatment!

Where is Momentium in Manchon-dong, and where do you park?

Here's the outside of Momentium, a hair salon in Manchon-dong, Daegu. It's a 5-minute walk from Manchon Station, so it's easy to reach by public transit. For parking, you can use the public parking lot nearby on weekdays, and park in front of the shop on weekends.

Whenever I visit a salon, I prefer somewhere less crowded where I can get treatment more comfortably. Momentium happens to be run as a one-person shop, so I booked through Naver reservations and visited. Since it's a one-person shop, I'd recommend booking ahead if you want to come at a specific time!

They prepared three small snacks and coffee for me, which I had a quick bite of before the treatment started haha. Sitting for a long time at a salon can sometimes feel longer than expected, so it was nice to have something simple to snack on!

Usually I've gotten shampoos lying in a regular shampoo chair, but here I could get shampooed while getting a massage in a massage chair!

How the root straightening and cut were done, step by step

Here's a before photo~ I decided to get root magic straightening and a cut!

First, the magic straightening solution was applied carefully all over my hair.

After applying the solution, they used a machine to apply heat for about 10 minutes.

After the machine heat treatment, they used a flat iron to pull each strand of hair straight and shape it. The owner is incredibly thorough haha.

After that, I went to get shampooed. Since I'd been sitting for 2 hours and my body was stiff, having my hair washed in the massage chair loosened up my tight shoulders and back — it was the best..❤️🫶🏻

Once my hair was fully dried, they straightened it again with the flat iron. After straightening, they applied the neutralizer. Doing the neutralizing step lying in the massage chair too meant it wasn't boring at all 👍

The result: how straight the curly roots looked afterward

Here's the hair after several hours of work! Can you see how the curly hair got smoothed away completely? The owner is so thorough with her hands, working through strand by strand without missing any, which made it even more satisfying!! And another thing — thanks to Momentium's clever massage chairs, even though the treatment took several hours, my body felt much less worn out, which was so nice!

The owner told me to make sure to get treatments and take good care of my hair, so I'm thinking I should start caring for it properly from now on.
