Peach yogurt mochi cut up in a Gyeongju guesthouse: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a takeout dessert shop for seasonal fruit mochi and tarts on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. Found next door after dinner, the writer bought one each of egg tart, brûlée cheese tart, gold kiwi mochi, and peach yogurt mochi to cut up at the guesthouse. Each piece is bigger than an adult fist, so slicing them at home turned out far easier than eating on the street.

Hi everyone, it's Duck. If you're looking for a sweet, unusual snack to enjoy comfortably back at your guesthouse while traveling in Gyeongju, pay attention to today's post. I'm sharing an honest, first-hand review of fresh seasonal fruit mochi and tarts from Tareudang, a shop I stumbled onto on my way to dinner.

An orange sign, an eye-catching hot spot: Tareudang
I'd just had a satisfying dinner at a Korean restaurant on Hwangnidan-gil that I covered in an earlier post, and as I walked out, an orange sign with a cute mochi illustration right next door caught my eye.
Two people were already buying ahead of me, and there was even a dedicated waiting line set up, so it looks like this place gets quite a queue on weekends — a real hot spot.

Inside, I could see a staff member carefully making thin mochi skins by hand, which built my confidence in the place before I'd even tasted anything.
September 2026 menu lineup and packing tips
Tareudang mainly sells two kinds of desserts — mochi and tarts. Here's the lineup I confirmed as of September 2026.
- Seasonal fruit mochi (6 kinds): gold kiwi, mango, peach yogurt, fig, pineapple, raw chocolate, etc.
- Tarts (5 kinds): egg tart, brûlée cheese tart, etc.

We bought four in total, one each: egg tart, brûlée cheese tart, gold kiwi mochi, and peach yogurt mochi.
They pack it up in about 5 minutes after ordering, but if it's a long walk back or the weather's hot, I'd definitely recommend adding a cooler bag to keep everything fresh.

Honest taste review: chewy fruit mochi and tarts
Back at the guesthouse, we had dessert time. The egg tart and brûlée cheese tart were both familiar, crowd-pleasing tart flavors that pretty much anyone would like.

Peach yogurt mochi — a whole half peach inside
Once we got into cutting the fruit mochi, the peach yogurt mochi was overwhelming just visually — a whole half peach packed inside. The low-sugar yogurt cream kept it from being too sweet, and with such a thin mochi skin, the pleasant natural tartness of the fruit filled my mouth.

My top pick: gold kiwi mochi
My top pick was easily the gold kiwi mochi! Perfectly ripened, sweet kiwi, red bean paste, and chewy mochi skin all came together in a fantastic three-way texture combo. The fruit's freshness really shone through — even though we were already full, my partner and I polished it off in no time.

Read before you eat! Tips for enjoying Tareudang's fruit mochi
✨ The mochi at Tareudang, a beloved dessert spot on Hwangnidan-gil, are massive — bigger than an adult fist. That means eating them on the street, held in your hand, can get a bit messy with juice dripping or smearing everywhere.
If there's no restroom nearby to wash your hands, the perfect way to enjoy these is to take them back to your guesthouse or home, like we did, and cut them up comfortably.
So, which dessert catches your eye more — the crisp, savory tarts or the juicy, chewy fruit mochi? Leave a comment and share your sweet preference!
