Milyang samgyeopsal spot: ₩9,000 ogyeopsal and kkodeulsal at Dotdot
In short
Dotdot Milyang Main Branch is a newly opened samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) restaurant in Samun-dong, Milyang, Gyeongnam. On a weekend evening the order was fresh ogyeopsal, skin-on pork belly, at ₩9,000 for 120g and fresh kkodeulsal, a firm pork cut, at ₩9,000, dipped in oil simmered with garlic and salted shrimp and in myeoljeot (salted anchovy sauce), then finished with tiger bean doenjang stew. The chewy skin of the ogyeopsal and the firm bite of the kkodeulsal are different enough to alternate between, and prices at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch stay light on the wallet.

I was in Milyang over the weekend and stopped by Dotdot, a pork BBQ restaurant in Samun-dong, for dinner.
It's a newly opened place in Milyang that I'd been curious about. The restaurant was clean, the meat was good, and the prices weren't intimidating either, so the value felt solid.
Here's my honest review of Dotdot, a restaurant I tried in Samun-dong, Milyang.

What the newly opened Dotdot dining room looks like
Being a new place, the restaurant overall felt clean, and the tables weren't cramped, making for a comfortable meal.
Seating felt fairly spacious, and the grilling tables and the area around the grill plates were kept clean too.

We ordered raw pork belly and raw kkodeulsal that day.
We went there for samgyeopsal (pork belly), but I was curious about other cuts too, so we ordered kkodeulsal along with it.

A pork BBQ restaurant that serves olives with the basic sides
The basic table setting included salad, kimchi, green onion kimchi, and olives.
It was a little unusual to get olives as a default side at a BBQ restaurant, but the crunchy olives paired with the meat gave a nice palate-cleansing feel.

You could easily grab extra side dishes and vegetables from the self-serve bar.

The meat came pre-sliced into pieces that were easy to grill.

The dip: garlic and salted shrimp simmered in oil at the table
They grilled the raw pork belly and kkodeulsal on the plate, and beside it they set up a sauce made from oil simmered with garlic and salted shrimp, plus myeoljeot (salted anchovy).
I've often seen garlic cooked in oil at BBQ places, but cooking salted shrimp this way too was a bit unusual.

Putting the golden-fried salted shrimp on top of the meat added a salty, savory kick that felt new.
The savory pork belly paired with the salted shrimp flavor better than I expected.

How does the fresh ogyeopsal taste? The skin texture
I tried the raw pork belly first.
Once golden and cooked through, the meat part was soft while the skin part had a chewy texture.

The skin in particular wasn't tough — it was springy and chewy, and the savory flavor built up the more you chewed.
Dipping it lightly in myeoljeot added a salty note that worked well, and topping it with the oil-fried, golden salted shrimp was a nice combination too.

The salty, savory flavor of the salted shrimp blended nicely with the rich pork belly.

It also went well with the crunchy green onion kimchi, and above all I loved the chewy bite of the skin.
What is the texture of Dotdot's fresh kkodeulsal?
Raw kkodeulsal is exactly what the name suggests — a cut with a distinctly firm, springy chew.

Grilled until golden, one bite had a slightly crispy outside and a chewy, springy inside.
It's firmer than pork belly, which made it satisfying to chew, and the savory flavor built up subtly the more I chewed.
I personally like meat with a firm, chewy texture, so I enjoyed the raw kkodeulsal a lot.
If you like special cuts of pork or 'back meat' style cuts, this kind of texture would probably suit your taste too.
The texture was clearly different from the pork belly, so alternating between the two kept things from getting boring.

Tiger bean doenjang stew to finish the meal
For the meal course, we ordered the tiger bean doenjang stew (soybean paste stew).
The savory broth was packed with tofu and beans, making it a filling dish to eat with rice.
Is Dotdot Milyang Main Branch good value for ₩9,000 a plate?
We tried both pork belly and kkodeulsal at Dotdot in Milyang that day, and both cuts had great texture.
The pork belly was ₩9,000 for 120g, so it wasn't a big financial burden, and combined with the good taste, it felt like a good-value BBQ restaurant in Milyang.
Since it's newly opened, the restaurant is clean and the prices aren't intimidating, making it a good spot to drop by when you're craving meat in the evening.
If you're craving samgyeopsal in Milyang or looking for a restaurant in Samun-dong, Dotdot is worth considering for a clean spot to enjoy grilled pork.
