Suwon bagel café with bagel chips for 3 generations: Orange Bagel

It was a holiday, so after visiting my parents' place, our whole family finally had lunch together. After lunch it felt a bit sad to just go our separate ways, but ordering another big meal felt like too much. So this time we stopped by Orange Bagel, a bagel spot known in Suwon, for dessert.

Parking there, I noticed way more cars than I expected. I figured it was just because of the holiday, but once we went inside, I understood why it was so busy, haha.

Why five family members with five different tastes chose Orange Bagel

Orange Bagel is a bagel café on Omokcheon-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, and it turned out to be a perfect fit for our family, since we're each into completely different things. My bread-loving son, my husband who loves iced Americano, my mom who loves hot Americano, me who loves anything with butter or cream cheese, and my younger kid who loves bagel chips.

Thinking about it, Orange Bagel actually suited our family really well — everyone could pick their own favorite thing to eat.

But once we got inside... it turned out we weren't the only ones who thought this way, haha. There were couples too, but when I visited, I mostly saw family groups — some with young kids, some with grandparents. Maybe it was extra crowded because of the holiday, but overall the vibe was families settling in comfortably.

And of course, since we came to a bagel café, the first thing that caught our eyes was the bagels.

Orange Bagel has so many kinds of bagels that just choosing took a while. From plain, simple bagels to ones loaded with toppings or fillings. We each picked what we wanted to eat. My bread-obsessed son had eyes only for the bread!

My younger kid got excited spotting the bagel chips they love. And me? I stopped dead in front of the butter bagels, haha.

What I picked was the Laugen butter bagel. I'll share the taste review below~

A far bigger interior than expected, and a staircase lined with frames

Orange Bagel already looked spacious from outside, but stepping in, it was even bigger than I expected.

High ceilings, big windows, brick-style interior, and framed pictures hung everywhere. It had a bit of that old American bakery-café feel. Maybe because of that, it wasn't just about eating the bagels and leaving — wandering around the café space itself was fun too.

Even the staircase was full of framed photos, so we went up slowly with the kids, taking it all in. There were photo-worthy spots everywhere, and the overall vibe was pretty distinctive.

There are more bagel varieties than I expected, and they sell coffee and drinks too, so it seems like a good place to enjoy a brunch-style meal with bagels rather than just stopping for coffee alone. A holiday afternoon with a drink and a bagel for everyone

My mom went with hot Americano. Our family's coffee preferences are clearly split too, haha. Still, it was nice that everyone got to pick what they wanted and enjoy it leisurely with bagels. Going straight home right after lunch would have felt like something was missing, but sitting there talking over coffee and bagels really did feel like a relaxed holiday afternoon.

And my bread-loving son — he grabbed a knife, insisting on cutting his own plain bagel himself.

Since it was the bread he picked himself, he worked at it pretty diligently. Still a bit clumsy at it, haha. Little moments like this end up becoming another memory when you go to a café with your kid. It's not just mom and dad's coffee time — it becomes a time for the kid to pick their own bread, cut it, and eat it themselves. So I think this would also be a good Suwon bakery café for anyone looking to visit with kids.

And what my younger kid loved most, surprisingly, wasn't the bagel — it was the bagel chips. Something about that crunchy texture must really suit kids' tastes, haha.

Thinking about it, this really was a café tailor-made for our family's tastes. And my husband, of course, went for a nice cold iced Americano.

How does the Laugen butter bagel taste?

The Laugen butter bagel! Seems like a new item at Orange Bagel~~ A glossy surface with flecks of salt on top, looking savory just by sight. But once we cut it in half... the butter inside was pretty thick. If you love butter, this is a look you just can't walk past, haha.

The bagel itself was plain and chewy, and the butter in the middle was soft and savory, pairing really well with coffee.

I've always liked bread with butter or cream cheese, so personally, out of everything we tried this time, the Laugen butter bagel was my favorite.

The garlic bagel at Orange Bagel

Garlic~ bagel~~ With garlic sauce on top, it had a completely different flavor from the Laugen butter one. It felt like a shame to pick just one, so sharing several kinds was even better. I think bagels are better shared among family, picking a few to split, rather than each person eating just one — that way you also get to see what everyone likes and try more flavors.

Is Orange Bagel a good last stop on a family holiday outing?

This time, we visited my parents, had lunch, and then stopped by for dessert — and it turned out to be a more satisfying time for the whole family than I expected. Honestly, when a family goes to a café together, tastes often differ so much that at least one person ends up saying, "there's nothing for me to eat here."

But this time was different. My bread-loving son was happy, my iced-Americano-loving husband was happy, my hot-coffee-loving mom was happy, I was happy with my butter, and even my bagel-chip-loving younger kid was happy. I'd call that a win, haha.

And from what I felt during my visit, this place seemed less like a spot for couples on a date and more like a comfortable Suwon bakery café to visit with family or friends.
