It was my husband's birthday last week! For a special family dinner, we headed to Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch, a famous hanwoo (Korean beef) spot near Yuseong Oncheon in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon!!

Where is Worang Myeongga in Yuseong, and what about hours and parking?

Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch is an 81m walk from Exit 8 of Yuseong Oncheon Station. If you're taking the subway, it's better to come up through Exit 7 since that's where the escalator is!

There's a private lot right in front of the building, big enough for 20–30 cars, it looked like. The Siloam Building parking lot across from Worang Myeongga also offers 2 hours free.

Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch is a clean, upscale butcher-shop restaurant with group seating and private rooms, making it a good pick for family gatherings or even a first meeting with in-laws.

Walk through the door and the spacious dining room opens up in front of you!

Since we had a reservation, we were seated right away! Every table has partitions on the sides and back, so you're not bothered by other tables at all — it was great being able to dine as just our own group!

The middle of the restaurant isn't quite rooms, but it's divided into sections. The partitions are tall enough that you can't see the next table when seated, so it's clean and private — perfect for a family meal!

All the way at the back of the 1st floor there's also a private room. It's a butcher-shop restaurant, but it feels so upscale — perfect for family gatherings or company dinners, don't you think?

Worang Myeongga isn't just the 1st floor — there's a 2nd floor too. The 2nd floor runs on reservations only, with VIP rooms even more upscale than downstairs, more than fit for meeting your in-laws.

Don't skip the self-serve fruit bar at Worang Myeongga

Right to the right of the 1st floor entrance is a self-serve bar! Fruit and vegetables are kept fresh there, though apparently some people don't even notice it and miss out. The fruit was so good, you really should try it.

Cherry tomatoes, pineapple, oranges — they were all so good I think I kept going back for more!

How to pick your own 1++ hanwoo sirloin at the meat counter

Since it's a butcher-shop restaurant, the meat is ordered separately!! You can also order tripe, large intestine, seasoned short ribs, beef sashimi, yukhoe (beef tartare), brisket, and rice dishes.

We came here for the beef, so — straight to the meat counter!!

You get to see the top-grade 1++ hanwoo up close and choose it yourself! Sirloin, tenderloin, mixed cuts, all kinds prepared — great that you can pick according to your taste.

Since it's a hanwoo restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong where I usually get the mixed grill — the marbling on this sirloin was insane, right? I don't think it was technically the premium sirloin cut, but it looked exactly like it, so today's pick was: this sirloin!! Once you choose your meat, tell the counter your table number, and pay after you're done eating!!

While we were choosing our meat, a generous basic spread came out!

It came out just as neatly and generously as a hanjeongsik (Korean set-table meal) restaurant, and it really felt like we were being treated well!! A great hanwoo spot near Yuseong Oncheon Station to bring someone special on a special day — the standard spread alone included seasoned crab, beef sashimi, tripe, and pollock roe, all high-quality ingredients laid out together!

Usually you'd get seaweed soup, but Worang Myeongga serves something like yukgaejang (spicy beef and vegetable soup) instead, and it was so good I finished a whole bowl of rice with it, definitely try it!

How does the sirloin taste over charcoal with pollock roe?

The marbling is insane, right? Now let's grill the main event, the 1++ hanwoo! The heat is so strong that you can feel the warmth radiating just sitting there! Beef needs to be grilled lightly, so you put a little on at a time and grill it right away.

The doneness on the beef was perfect!

Just a simple dip in salt~ apparently you're supposed to top it with a bit of pollock roe and then dip it in salt! Worang Myeongga is known for its meticulous meat selection — hand-selected hanwoo aged in a special way, giving it deep beef flavor and a tender texture, they say it's the best. It's not famous for no reason! Truly a hanwoo specialty house. The juiciness and texture were perfect, so even my picky son ate really well, and both my husband and I enjoyed it so much! No need for a steakhouse. This is the steakhouse.

You can also grab king oyster mushrooms from the self-serve bar — the ones grilled over charcoal are delicious too, so eat plenty!!

Is Worang Myeongga worth it for a special family dinner?

Today we visited specially for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday! I thought a meal this upscale would cost a lot, but since it's a butcher-shop restaurant, we could enjoy 1++ hanwoo without breaking the bank — a truly satisfying family dinner!
