Daejeon family Italian dinner with four dishes at Ciment

I went to Chungnam National University with the kids for dinner on a weekday evening. Choosing a restaurant when eating out with kids is surprisingly tricky, so rather than somewhere that serves just one kind of food, I looked for a place where we could have pasta, pizza, pork cutlet, and risotto all at once! This time, we visited Ciment Chungnam National University Branch!

It is on Daehak-ro by Chungnam National University in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and being so close to the university was nice.

On weekdays, it is open from 10:40 a.m. to 9:40 p.m., with last orders at 9 p.m. The notice said it opens at 11 a.m. on weekends and public holidays!

Once inside, the atmosphere was much nicer than it looked from outside! The dark-toned tables had a vintage feel, maybe?? There were vintage-style bulb lights on the ceiling too, so it had a subtly lovely mood when we visited in the evening.

Each table had a tablet, so we could browse the menu and order directly.

There was also a self-service bar on one side. We could help ourselves to as much pickles, jalapeños, hot sauce, grated cheese, and water as we needed, which was convenient for a family meal too!

There were so many delicious-looking things that it took us ages to choose, haha.

That day, we ordered the garlic oil pasta with beef, a half-and-half pizza, rose pork cutlet, and bacon cream cheese risotto. Even with four dishes, the price did not feel burdensome, so I was already so happy before we even ate, haha.

It came topped with generously sliced beef grilled in butter. Having the meat and pasta together made it feel really filling!

The beef was soft rather than tough, so the kids ate it well too. There was roasted whole garlic as well. Its gentle aroma kept the dish from feeling too rich.

Half potato and half pepperoni pizza

This was a pizza they liked so much that they said we should come back just to eat it! Being able to enjoy two flavors, half and half, made it even better~

The potato pizza in particular was a little different from other pizza places. Instead of plain potato toppings, it had French fries on top. That must be why the kids liked it even more.

The crispy fries were drizzled with sweet condensed milk, so it had that delicious sweet-and-salty combination.

Rose pork cutlet chosen to share with the kids

I was originally going to order the spicy pork cutlet, but chose the rose version so the kids could eat it too.

I thought it would not be spicy, but the staff thoughtfully prepared the sauce separately because the kids might find it hot! I was so touched ㅠㅠㅠ

The pork cutlet was thick, and the rose sauce was so smooth and delicious!!!! It had bacon too, and although it was slightly spicy, the kids happily dipped it in the sauce.

Even at a pasta place, it felt like we should have rice too, so we ordered risotto! At ₩8,900, it was the least expensive of the four dishes. Considering the portion and what came with it, it was such an amazing value!!!!

The creamy base, bacon, and cheese gave it an overall rich, nutty flavor! It was another dish the kids could eat well.

The atmosphere was not overly formal, either, so it was a comfortable place for a meal 💚 It would be great for a family meal, but also for friends or a date!

Best of all, the overall bill did not feel too high even after ordering four dishes. The four of us were realllllly full, haha. It is not one of those good-value places where the food is bad at all—every dish was a safe choice? The quality for the price was so good.

(My personal top pick was the beef oil pasta!) If you are looking for somewhere near Chungnam National University where you can eat several different kinds of dishes at once, give it a visit! I think it would be especially well suited to anyone looking for good pasta in Gung-dong with kids! Next time, I want to try other pasta or pizza dishes that we did not get to have this time!
