Went for a slightly late lunch at Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch! It's a place that pops into my head whenever I want meat, and this time we properly went for it — skirt steak, flower short rib, the 9dan set, and even sotbap ❤️
Parking and seating at Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch
This Buk-gu, Daegu restaurant has a big parking lot, so it's great to visit by car. Parking is one of those surprisingly important things when looking for a spot in Chimsan-dong, and here there's plenty of space so no stress haha.

The interior is spacious too, with lots of tables. Even though we came a bit after the usual lunch rush, there were still plenty of people eating~~!
Baby chairs were ready to go too, so I saw a lot of families around, and the staff were friendly.
There's even mouthwash in the restroom. Great to use right before heading out after eating meat!
What we ordered for a late lunch in Chimsan-dong
Here's what we ordered that day —

- Skirt steak, half platter — ₩54,000
- Flower short rib, half platter — ₩49,000
- 9dan set — ₩18,000
- Dried radish green sotbap ₩7,000 × 2 — ₩14,000
That's what we ordered!

Before the meat arrives, the basic side dishes come out first, and there's quite a variety haha. Japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), seasoned vegetables, kimchi and more — overall it comes out looking clean and well put together!

Personally the seasoned marinated crab was the tastiest — the sauce was great and it went so well with rice that it was the side dish I reached for the most ❤️

I love grill restaurants that give you a good spread of basic side dishes with the meat, so this part really won me over too haha.
Why the flower short rib was the favourite cut
For the beef, we ordered half platters each of skirt steak and flower short rib to try both — the beef restaurant scene in Daegu really shows here. The skirt steak was tasty too, but for me the flower short rib melted in my mouth!

Cooked just right, it was tender and juicy, so it was delicious even without any sauce haha. Ordering both kinds together made it fun to switch back and forth, and being able to order half platters is great when you want to try a few different cuts!

No need to even say anything about the taste haha.
Is the 18,000-won 9dan set worth it?
Along with the meat we also ordered the 9dan set — jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles) plus Korean beef tartare, sushi, and pork kimchi stew, all for ₩18,000!

It's a spread of several different dishes at once, so it's great to add on when just meat feels like it's not quite enough — and the beef tartare here is especially good!

The fresh tartare had that lovely soft texture, and we kept nibbling on it while the meat grilled, so it disappeared fast haha. The stew came in a generous portion too — for ₩18,000, the composition is definitely solid!
These days even ordering a stew on its own isn't cheap, so being able to eat a bit of everything together makes this a great choice when you want to eat generously at a Chimsan-dong restaurant haha.
Dried radish green sotbap: the side we always add
And here's a menu item I love here — the dried radish green sotbap! It was delicious again this time too 👍
The rice has dried radish greens mixed in, so it's savory and pairs really well with the meat — it's tasty even on its own! Honestly, between the skirt steak, flower short rib, and the 9dan set, it wasn't a small amount of food, but I still managed to polish off the sotbap too haha.
Free patbingsu and coffee to finish the meal
Once you're done eating, they bring out patbingsu (shaved ice with red bean) as dessert! It has that old-school feel with red beans, rice cakes, and cereal, and it was cool and sweet enough to go down even on a full stomach haha.

Finishing off the meat with something cool was a nice way to cleanse the palate, and on the way out you can even grab a coffee to take out — so I did!

Easy parking, a spacious dining room, and everything from basic side dishes to full dishes done well — that's Gogi 9dan, a Chimsan-dong restaurant!
This time I tried the skirt steak alongside the flower short rib, and I still preferred the tender flower short rib — and the 9dan set and sotbap were both fully satisfying ❤️

It's a great Daegu beef restaurant to visit on a day you want to eat generously — plenty of side dishes plus a full meal alongside the beef!
