A friend once took me to Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui (맛찬들왕소금구이), saying it was their absolute favorite pork belly place. I thought pork belly would all be pretty much the same~ but my eyes went wide the moment I ate it.

I visited Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch after swimming nearby, supposedly to replenish protein!!! Actually, the protein excuse is a lie—I just kept thinking about Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui..

There are seats without partitions, too.

Restaurant seating with partitions

And there are partitioned seats like these! There are also floor-seating rooms, so it is perfect for a Moran-area work dinner.

From fresh pork belly to lunch specials

The meat selection was varied: fresh pork belly, fresh pork neck, fresh pork skirt meat, fresh pork jowl, and fresh pork cheek meat!

Pork menu

The sides included essential Korean BBQ choices like soybean paste stew and cold noodles, plus beef tartare and beef tartare bibimbap. By the way, I wonder how long the ₩1,000 bowl-of-rice era will last.

There was also a lunch special available only from 12:00 to 15:00.

Lunch special menu information

You can add cheese, king oyster mushrooms, and pork skin to the meat, too.

Discounted set menu information

There are discounted set menus as well! Just looking at the menu told me this Moran favorite, Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch, really knows good food.

Abundant side dishes and muksabal

Ssam vegetables and pickled side dishes

Even the complimentary side dishes were abundant: ssam vegetables for wrapping, all kinds of pickles to eat alongside, shredded radish, rinsed aged kimchi, and scallion salad! I thought the wood ear mushrooms were an unusual touch.

Muksabal served during the meal

And!!!!! They also gave us muksabal, a chilled acorn jelly soup >.< It totally soothed your palate when things could start to feel rich.

For dipping the meat, there was wasabi and myeolchi jeot, a salted anchovy sauce. The things I always dip my meat in..♡

Wasabi and myeolchi jeot meat seasonings

They even gave us two kinds of salt: regular salt and Himalayan pink salt.

Pork belly grilled with the temperature checked

Finally, the meat arrived!! I felt this on my earlier visit too, but Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui really has excellent-quality pork. Look at that beautiful marbling... it is the ideal form of pork. That meat quality looks AI-generated. And giving us potatoes and rice cakes too? They really know what they are doing.. As expected, this Moran favorite Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch is different.

And delicious meat like this really does taste best when an expert grills it. It was so convenient not having to do it myself! They grilled it so professionally, even checking the temperature. Ah, a Moran favorite built on faith and trust.

One bite and, yep, as expected. The juices were completely intact, it was cooked just right, and there was no charred taste at all. Maybe because the meat quality was so good, it was incredibly tender.

Wasabi really is the answer for pork.

And you cannot leave out the myeolchi jeot either.

Soybean paste stew loaded with ingredients

Soybean paste stew! Why can’t I make Korean BBQ restaurant soybean paste stew taste like this at home..

I was surprised by how generously packed it was. Usually at a Korean BBQ place, soybean paste stew has tofu, onion, and zucchini—and barely any of those—but Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch’s stew was so substantial that it would be filling all on its own!!!!

This was my second visit to Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui, though my first time at the Moran Branch, and it did not disappoint my expectations. Today really made me think, Mat Chandeul is Mat Chandeul!!! If you are looking for great pork belly in Moran, visit Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch. I have decided I need to collect stamps at Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui branches nationwide.
