With the change of season my hair had gotten noticeably frizzy and dry, and I'd been wanting a change of style, so I went looking for a Seongsu-dong hair salon known for stylish cuts.

The moment I walked in, staff kindly took my coat and bag and gave me a thorough one-on-one consultation, so my first impression was already really pleasant. 💇‍♀️

The hip, café-like space made a strong impression, and knowing I'd get my treatment in such a pleasant setting already had me excited.

We decided to go with the Ayunchae clinic treatment to restore moisture and nutrition, paired with a layered cut for a light yet stylish line.

The Ayunchae clinic at Toni&Guy Seongsu started with a scalp scrub, then moved through three steps: moisture, protein, and cuticle care. The first step, a scalp scrub for deep-cleansing my stuffy scalp, brought a refreshing, cool tingle spreading across my whole scalp, like all the built-up sebum and residue were washing away.

Next came moisture care to add deep hydration into my dry hair, protein care to firm up the hair's inner structure, and finally cuticle care to seal in the nutrients by coating the hair's surface — a systematic 3-step process with generous amounts of Ayunchae product applied throughout.

While waiting for the nutrients to sink in under the steam machine, I enjoyed the cool drink and snacks they'd prepared, and even my fatigue melted away. 🍵

How did designer Terry cut the layers?

After the clinic treatment, once my hair was towel-dried, Terry began her signature layered-cut scissor work.

Watching her carefully consider my face shape, scalp line, and hair density, shaping the length stitch by stitch in fine detail, I could really feel the expertise.

She kept the layers from being too heavy while bringing out natural texture, and the shine from the clinic treatment combined with the layered line for an amazing synergy.

Now even just shaking my hair out with a blow dryer after washing gives me hip, natural curls, like I just walked out of a salon blow-dry. ✂️
