Chapagetti night and co-op games in Nowon: Hero Board Game Cafe

In short

Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch is an indoor board game café near Nowon Station in Seoul, where board games come with Nintendo consoles, puzzles and arcade machines. A couple took a large room with sofas, played Tumbling Monkey and Da Vinci Code, teamed up on the Nintendo co-op game It Takes Two, and ordered Chapagetti (instant black bean noodles) topped with a fried egg plus chicken from the in-room tablet. Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch is a good pick when café dates feel repetitive and you want somewhere to settle in for hours.

Today I'm sharing a review of a board game café I visited with my boyfriend after a while! I love board games in general and often pick a board game café for dates, and this time we went to Hero Board Game Cafe in Nowon.

What can you play at Hero Board Game Cafe in Nowon? Board games, Nintendo, puzzles and arcade machines

We've been to most of the board game cafés in Nowon while dating, and Hero seemed to have the widest selection of games by far. It's also the only place I've found that lets you play Nintendo, puzzles, and arcade machines all in one spot.

The inside was really spacious and clean. You can sit on the floor, or choose one of the rooms with chairs and sofas.

The big sofa room and tablet ordering at Hero Board Game Cafe

We used the large room with the sofa.

There's a small tablet in the room where you can look up the rules for all sorts of board games, and also order tasty snacks!

Apparently the current best-selling game is called 'Gelati.' From the description, it's a strategy puzzle game. The tablet explains everything in detail, so it saved us time and made the games more fun to play.

Playing Tumbling Monkey again after years

The first game we picked was Tumbling Monkey! It's a nostalgic game I played a lot as a kid, and it felt new again after so long. It's a simple game where you carefully pull out sticks without letting the monkey fall, but it was surprisingly tense and fun to play as a couple haha. Whoever lost had to go grab the snacks.

Nintendo consoles at Hero Board Game Cafe: co-op play in your own room

The most fun we had was actually with the Nintendo game. They had It Takes Two, which I'd seen once on Instagram Reels, so my boyfriend and I jumped right in! It's a co-op game where the two of you have to help each other to progress, and it turned out to be way more fun than I expected lol.

Another round of Nintendo gameplay in progress

At first we said, 'Let's just try it for a bit, then play board games~' but the more we played, the more competitive we got, and we kept saying 'just one more round!' In the end we lost track of time and played for a long, long while haha.

Since you have to cooperate the whole time to play, we naturally ended up talking a lot, which made it really nice for a date.

Snacks at the board game café: Chapagetti with a fried egg, and chicken

Snacks ordered at the board game café laid out on the table

You get hungry while playing games, right haha. For snacks we ordered jjapaguri (black bean noodles) topped with a fried egg, plus chicken. Having a fried egg on top of the jjapaguri was perfect for a snack when you get peckish mid-game.

When I first tasted the jjapaguri I was like 'huh?', but there were sauces underneath, and once I mixed it all together it was delicious! Mixing it well before eating makes it taste even better!

Is Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon worth it for an indoor date?

This time we enjoyed a real variety, from Nintendo's It Takes Two to Tumbling Monkey and Da Vinci Code. Getting to actually play It Takes Two with my boyfriend, after being curious about it from Instagram Reels, made it even more fun. A board game café doesn't mean you're limited to board games — you can also enjoy console games like Nintendo, so it's a great fit for a date where you want to sit and play different things for a long time.

On weekdays especially, you can get an all-day unlimited pass at a really cheap price, which is such a great deal. If you're a little tired of dates that are just sitting in a café talking, how about an indoor date playing games at a board game café instead? 🎮 I'd recommend it as a place to go with your boyfriend or friends where you'll lose track of time having fun :)
