Jongno theater with a strawberry love gel gift: Suspicious PT Shop

In short

Nine Theater is a small adults-only theater at 30 Daehak-ro8ga-gil in Jongno, Seoul, currently staging the sexy comedy Suspicious PT Shop. A married couple saw their first adult play at the Sunday 3pm showing in general seats (69,000 won), posed at the Suspicious Hair Salon and styrofoam barbell photo zones, and were handed a strawberry-scented love gel as an audience gift after the 80-minute show. Suspicious PT Shop is racy but never off-putting, and the whole room laughs together, so it works well for couples looking for an unusual date in Seoul.

My husband and I wanted an unusual date in Seoul after not going out much lately, so I started searching around, and up popped an adults-only play called Suspicious PT Shop, billed as a fun adult date for friends, couples, or married pairs. How could I resist?

We're a couple who already loves Daehak-ro theater, but neither of us had ever seen an adults-only play before, so I got curious. The reviews said it was way more explicit than expected, so naturally I just booked tickets to see for myself. Want to come along and check out the buzzy Suspicious PT Shop with us?

Where is Nine Theater and how much is Suspicious PT Shop?

Location: 30 Daehak-ro8ga-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea / Show times: Mon, Thu, Fri 7pm; Sat 3pm & 6pm; Sun 3pm & biweekly 6pm / Ticket price: General seats (Rows C-F) ₩69,000, Special seats (Rows A-B) ₩99,000 / Booking: Naver Reservations, NOL Ticket, Coupang, etc. / Note: This is an adults-only (19+) show, so bringing ID is recommended.

Seeing the 19+ mark on the poster made it feel very real that we were actually about to watch an adults-only play haha. We'd booked the Sunday 3pm slot.

I was genuinely curious how a gym where you just build muscle could possibly be 19+, and then on the way down to the ticket counter at Nine Theater, we were greeted by some very sexy 'ladies' — turns out they're the actual adult actors performing. Lines like 'those with weak hearts, do not enter' and 'today, we're crossing the line' caught my eye and got me a little nervous.

But there was no turning back now, so bravely onward to get our tickets!!!

The Suspicious Hair Salon photo zone, left over from Nine Theater's last play

Suspicious PT Shop is apparently the sequel to a show called Suspicious Hair Salon. That play has ended, but they kept the photo zone standing.

With actual salon tools and a salon chair, it really does feel like a hair salon. And of course, the Suspicious Hair Salon poster also features sexy ladies — makes sense it was 19+ too!!!

After taking photos here and playing around at the photo zone, I somehow felt relaxed enough to gather the courage to head back to the ticket counter. Shall we go together again?

Is working out normally this sexy? No wait, ladies, if you exercise this seductively, the guys are going to get nosebleeds!!!

I started second-guessing myself again — is this really a play a married couple should watch, won't it get awkward afterward — but oh!!! Looks like there's another photo zone. Let's go check it out first.

The styrofoam barbell was hilariously light. Totally fine to cosplay as a strong man here, so have fun taking pictures!!!

Free coffee machine in the waiting room and the ID check at Nine Theater

While we were busy taking photos, more people who looked like couples and married pairs started arriving. The customer waiting room was spacious, cool, and comfortable, which I appreciated.

There's a coffee machine and water dispenser off to the side of the waiting room, so feel free to help yourself while you wait. When we went to get our tickets, even though they'd told us to bring ID, nobody actually checked it. So I asked, 'Don't you need to check IDs?' and the staff member scanned my husband up and down and said, 'No, I don't think you really need to show it.' My poor husband was so hurt haha. If they don't ask for your ID, don't be like me and ask just to get hurt twice — just let it go.

When it was time, the theater doors opened and we walked into a room completely filled with haze. I gasped 'Oh my!!' and the staff member just calmly said, 'It's not a fire,' which cracked me up haha.

We looked over the synopsis handed out before the show and took a commemorative photo with my husband to mark our first-ever adults-only play, and while we killed time like that...

...the haze cleared quite a bit and an announcement signaled the show was about to start. I thought we'd be watching the whole thing through haze, but I was relieved when it got brighter. Time to focus and watch the play!!!

How racy is Suspicious PT Shop, and is it fine to watch as a married couple?

After about 80 hot minutes that went well beyond 19+ into what felt like 39+, the play finally ended. Honestly, I'd say it might be one of the most explicit and provocative plays in Korea. Before watching, I worried the content would be so intense it'd feel uncomfortable, but surprisingly, nobody in the audience looked put off or made a face — everyone was laughing and enjoying it together. Living up to its description as a 'sexy comedy,' it was impressive how the script managed to be genuinely funny despite the high content level. If you're worried it'll be uncomfortable to watch, don't be — I think you can go ahead and see it!!!

Audience photo time in front of the stage after the show

After the show, the cast took photos directly with the audience, so my husband and I got a group photo with them too. It's wild how they can perform such bold scenes and then look so bright and cheerful right after haha.

The audience gift: a strawberry-scented love gel

When they asked who wanted a gift, I shot my hand up first and got a prize — strawberry-scented love gel haha. I assumed, like most plays, they'd give out a coupon for another show, so I raised my hand without thinking, but even the gift turned out to be 19+. Impressive, right? Just by watching the show, you might end up with a condom in your hand at some point — so there's something to take home either way.

After the show, we took more photos at the now cozier-feeling Suspicious Hair Salon photo zone to shake off the dizzying afterglow of the play. If you're looking for something for a special day, or just want to see an unusual play, I'd recommend Suspicious PT Shop!!!
