Where is Midang Hanwoo Gopchang, and what are its hours?

Midang Hanwoo Gopchang is a 5-minute walk from Garak Market/Police Hospital Station on Line 3, so it's easy to get to, and it's open every day from 10 AM to 11 PM. There are quite a few gopchang restaurants around Garak Market Station, but Midang Hanwoo Gopchang stood out for its generous portions and great service!

What two people ordered at Midang Hanwoo Gopchang, and what it cost

We visited as a couple, one guy and one girl, and ordered the same-day butchered mungtigi (raw beef, 3.6), gopchang (1) + daechang (1) (4.9), kkakdugi fried rice (0.4), and drank two bottles of Chamisul... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

After we ordered, they brought out fresh beef liver, cheonyeop (beef stomach lining), and the special plum-sesame sauce that's unique to this Garak Market favorite, Midang Hanwoo Gopchang.

Same-day butchered mungtigi: fresh enough to stay put on an upturned plate

[Same-day butchered mungtigi] The mungtigi (raw beef) was in the ₩30,000s, cut into thick chunks, and we were told it had been butchered that day at 4 PM. I usually love yukhoe (raw beef tartare) but I don't think I'd ever had mungtigi before. It looked so fresh that I flipped the plate over — and not a single piece fell off. Amazing.

There was zero gaminess, and they gave us a variety of sauces and sides to pair it with — sesame oil salt sauce made with 10-year-aged salt, a special gochujang-minced garlic sauce, and gamtae (seaweed laver). Placing a piece of yukhoe on the gamtae and dipping it deep into the sesame oil sauce brought out this savory richness.

With the gamtae aroma rising slightly, the perfectly salty flavor and the chewy raw beef threw a dance party in my mouth...

Ah, how am I supposed to resist this — bring on the soju

Naver review raffle: one draw per person, no losing tickets

While we were tipping back a glass of soju, the owner told us we could do a raffle draw through the Naver review event. Usually it's one draw per table, but Midang Hanwoo Gopchang let each of us draw one — what a deal!

Soju and rice sikhye won from the raffle

We got 4th and 5th place and ended up with a bottle of soju and rice sikhye (sweet rice punch) ♥ Sweet, delicious sikhye, who knew! Since there are absolutely no losing draws in this event, definitely try it if you visit Midang Hanwoo Gopchang haha. After the fun raffle, when we were about two-thirds through the mungtigi, the owner came over from grilling gopchang at the next table, saying 'we can't let the eating momentum break,' and grilled ours too.

Come to think of it, we only ordered gopchang and daechang but got yeomtong (beef heart) for free that day haha... we got so lucky, right? It felt like getting a whole assorted platter! And having the owner grill everything made it so easy to eat.

Just from the photos of the gopchang sizzling and crackling on the grill, you can see how packed it was with gop (fat/marrow) — crispy and chewy on the outside, packed with savory gop inside, it was so delicious. For the daechang, they laid half of it open flat and told us to eat the other half whole, and eating it together with the grilled kimchi and potatoes completely cut through the richness of the daechang without ever getting tiring!

A gopchang restaurant that gives you free yangnyeom gejang (marinated crab)? All I can say is I was touched.

Finishing with kkakdugi fried rice (0.4)

[Kkakdugi fried rice (0.4)] Honestly, I think if you go to a gopchang restaurant, you absolutely must get the fried rice. Spreading finely diced kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice out thin in the leftover grease to make a crispy nurungji crust, then scooping up a bite — that's true happiness.

Happiness isn't really that complicated — isn't eating something delicious with someone you like exactly what happiness is?

Stamp rewards when you spend over 50,000 won

At this Garak Market gopchang favorite, Midang Hanwoo Gopchang gives you a stamp for every ₩50,000 you spend, and the perks from 3 to 20 stamps are really generous. You can't help but become a regular haha.

Personally, the owner was so kind, and between the same-day butchered mungtigi and the gopchang and daechang grilled right in front of us, both the taste and the service were excellent — I feel like I'll definitely come back to Midang Hanwoo Gopchang next time I want gopchang near Garak Market : ) It's not far from the station, and the tables inside aren't cramped either, so if you're looking for a gopchang restaurant near Garak Market, I highly, highly recommend [Midang Hanwoo Gopchang] -♥
