Do you guys like sushi?? My boyfriend Yeonguri and I really, really love sushi, so it's always part of our Cheonan date course haha
This time, while we were out on a date in Buldang-dong after Yeonguri got off work, we got a craving for sushi, looked around, and ended up at Ganghan Sushi. It was our first time there and it was sooo good ㅠㅜㅠ I've already crowned it my number one sushi spot in Cheonan?!? I can't keep a place this good to myself, so let me introduce it right away.

Parking in Buldang-dong: 2 hours free in the basement lot
Ganghan Sushi turns out to already be a famous Cheonan sushi spot, known even as a lunch place in Buldang-dong?! Parking in Buldang-dong is really, really tough, but the building where this Buldang-dong sushi restaurant sits has a spacious basement lot with 2 hours free, so it was super convenient haha
Tablet ordering at every table, and seating for solo diners, couples and groups
The inside of Ganghan Sushi isn't huge, but it's laid out well, so it looked great whether you're eating alone, on a date, or with a group!!! And since every table has a tablet, ordering was super convenient too haha
For side dishes, we could freely help ourselves to the ginger and pickled radish (rakkyo) on the table, and all sorts of utensils were tucked in the table drawer, so we didn't even need to go to a self-serve bar — so convenient haha We could just focus on each other.
You just scoop out as much of the side dishes as you'll eat — so nice!!
What we ordered at Ganghan Sushi: special sushi 12P and omakase sushi 12P
At Ganghan Sushi, we ordered the Ganghan special sushi 12P and the omakase sushi 12P.
Our order came with mini udon (jjambbong-style noodles), which you can also upgrade to cold soba (naengmomil) for an extra charge haha It's been chilly lately ㅠㅜㅠ so I went with the mini udon!! I quickly finished the noodles before the sushi arrived, then ate the sushi with the broth alongside — total comfort food haha
Here's the omakase sushi and Ganghan special sushi we ordered haha So fresh and made with such care ㅠㅜㅠㅜ I don't like it when the rice portion is too big when I eat sushi, but at this Cheonan sushi spot, the rice was exactly bite-sized, so it was really easy to eat.
What comes in the Ganghan Sushi omakase sushi 12P
On top of that, the set included flounder, flounder belly, raw salmon, tuna, tuna belly, sweet shrimp with sea urchin, soy-marinated shrimp, freshwater eel, gamtae yukhoe (seaweed with raw beef), abalone, and monkfish liver gunkan — special items you can't get at other Buldang-dong sushi places. It made me think, 'Ah, so this is why they call it omakase sushi~!' haha
Both of the menus we ordered had a good mix that adults and kids alike could enjoy, so it seemed perfect for Buldang-dong group gatherings, work dinners, or family meals haha
The abalone sushi and gamtae yukhoe sushi looked especially delicious to me haha
Monkfish liver gunkan, the foie gras of the sea
And the monkfish liver gunkan, known as the 'foie gras of the sea,' had an outstanding richness that spread all through my mouth!! It was so, so good and deep in flavor — I want to eat it again ㅠㅜㅠ
Flounder sushi with washed aged kimchi: the best bite of the meal
Do you all know the flounder sushi and washed aged kimchi (mugeunji) combo!? It's seriously, seriously good, so you all have to try it too!!!! This Buldang-dong sushi spot, Ganghan Sushi... the aged kimchi is so good I almost wanted to order extra.
Swap the mini udon for cold soba and the portion gets big
Yeonguri upgraded his mini udon to cold soba, and it came piled high with toppings and in a really generous portion, making a great palate cleanser alongside the sushi haha It wasn't a mini cold soba at all — it came out full-size, like a regular order! Portion was huge... but it was so good we scraped the bowl clean before leaving haha
You can see how thick the slices of fish are ㅠㅠㅠ The sashimi was glossy and springy and so tasty, I want to come back again with my mom, who also loves sushi.
If you're looking for a great sushi restaurant in Buldang-dong, definitely go with Ganghan Sushi!!!! Highly recommend haha
