Teppan restaurant in Mullae, Seoul with timer-flip okonomiyaki: Jojo
In short
Jojo Mullae Branch is a Japanese-style teppan restaurant on Dorim-ro 139-gil near Mullae Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The signature 2-person set brings okonomiyaki (savory cabbage pancake), donpeyaki (pork and egg pancake) and yakisoba, and staff come to flip the okonomiyaki each time the tableside timer rings; the fresh-noodle yakisoba, chewy and soaked in a spicy, salty sauce, was the best of the three. Both the mood and the food at Jojo Mullae Branch land above average, making it a Mullae date spot worth a return visit.

The weather has gotten suddenly cold lately, and out of nowhere I've fallen hard for yakisoba and okonomiyaki 💗
I'd always wanted to try the Yeonnam-dong branch of Jojo, but then I went on a date in Mullae and found out there's a Jojo Mullae Branch too!! Perfect timing, so I visited right away and brought back this review :)
Both the vibe and the food felt like a trip to Japan — let me introduce Jojo Mullae Branch.
Where is Jojo Mullae Branch, and what are the hours?

I took bus 7612, got off at the Yeongdeungpo Kyobo Life stop, and walked about 15 minutes!
A storefront you can spot from down the street

The exterior was much bigger than I expected, visible from far away, so I could spot it right away and find my way in. The interior gives off a strong local-Japan feel that I loved.
Inside Jojo Mullae Branch: wood tones and a roomy feel

The interior of Jojo Mullae Branch is done in a very clean wood tone — rather than a calm feel, the first impression I got was clean and spacious, which I liked 😆

There are cute little touches hidden everywhere, so there wasn't a dull moment even while waiting :)
Table setup: three sauces, a hot plate and kiosk ordering

Every table at Jojo Mullae Branch comes set up with three sauces and a hot plate (?)! It was so shiny and gleaming that it scored high marks for cleanliness too, ding ding ding !! 💯

You order through the kiosk set up at each table! And the water is barley tea, which made my old-lady taste buds so, so happy 🤍
The signature 2-person set and how the timer-flip grilling works
I ordered the signature 2-person set at Jojo Mullae Branch 😋 Signature 2-person set: okonomiyaki + donpeyaki + yakisoba.

The okonomiyaki came out first!! I'd been curious what the timer on each table was for, and this is when I found out. They put the batter on the hot plate and set the timer! Once the timer goes off, staff come right over and flip it — this is the system 😛❤️

Trying donpeyaki (pork and egg pancake) for the first time
While waiting for the okonomiyaki timer to go off, the donpeyaki came out right away!! It was my first time trying donpeyaki, and the sauce was spicier and more savory than I expected — the pork belly and egg inside blended together in a soft, savory harmony that I kept picking at, bite after bite 🤤
Beep beep ~ ⏰ the timer finally went off!!! And a staff member flipped it!!!!! I thought it was finally time to eat, but they set the timer again!!! And so another round of waiting began.

Why the fresh-noodle yakisoba has to be eaten fast
While I waited eagerly for the okonomiyaki to finish grilling, the yakisoba arrived right after!!!!!!! I picked up my chopsticks thinking I'd better eat it quick, mouth watering — since it's fresh noodles, they get soggy fast, so the staff recommended eating it quickly.

Hot…! One big bite in, and a slightly spicy, salty, savory kick hit the tip of my tongue!
It's so, so good..ㅜㅜ Maybe because it's fresh noodles, the chewy, springy strands soaked up the sauce perfectly — the most consistently delicious yakisoba I've had so far 🥹❤️❤️

The last timer: okonomiyaki ready to eat
Finally the last timer went off!!! ⏰⏰⏰⏰⏰ Now I could really eat!!!!! To finish it off properly, they squeezed out all three tableside sauces onto it 😋

Taking a hearty bite, I realized it barely needed any sauce at all 💯 A perfect score. Even though it was slathered thick with mayo and teriyaki sauce, it wasn't as greasy or salty as I expected, so I ate it up happily.
Scraped the plate clean and headed out of Jojo Mullae Branch 🫶
Is Jojo Mullae Branch worth a visit? Final verdict
Jojo Mullae Branch nailed both the atmosphere from the interior and food that landed well above average! It was clear from this first visit why a can't-fail combination like this is so popular 😻 Would definitely come back ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤍
