I was looking for somewhere to eat dinner in front of Songdo Beach in Pohang and ended up at Plan A Restaurant.

Since it's right across from Songdo Beach, I figured you could eat and then take a walk by the sea afterward — sounded like a good date course. And when I got to the building and looked up, my first thought was "the view's gonna be good" haha. Plan A Restaurant is on the 4th floor of the building, and yes, there's an elevator!

Once you go up to the 4th floor and step inside, the interior is set up so the sea is fully visible through big windows. If you visited during the day I imagine eating with that view would be amazing. I went at night, and the sea was actually visible in person but didn't come through well in photos. A little disappointing, haha.

During the day, this seems like a place where you could relax and enjoy the ocean view while eating. It's not a particularly fancy interior, but the atmosphere is comfortable for a meal.

They have baby chairs and can accommodate groups too. Pets are welcome as well, apparently. There were even lap blankets ready, and I liked these small details.

What we ordered: Plan B chop steak and shrimp rosé spaghetti

That day at Plan A Restaurant I ordered the Plan B chop steak 240g for ₩35,000 and the shrimp rosé spaghetti for ₩16,000.

The chop steak comes in A and B versions, which seem to let you choose the spice level. I went with B — the non-spicy option.

And then the dishes arrived... passed with flying colors just visually! The generous plating gave me a little rush of happiness, haha.

How the Plan B chop steak tasted: tender and mild

I tried the chop steak first. The meat was tender and mild-tasting, so my chopsticks kept going back for more.

Instead of just eating the chop steak on its own, the salad that came with it was a nice touch too. Eating it together with the salad worked well, and the fries rounded out the plate even more. It wasn't just meat sitting there alone — with the salad and fries together, the plate felt pretty generous. Best of all, I usually don't go for meat if it's tough, but this was tender enough that I kept eating.

And of course, pasta can't be skipped. I ordered the shrimp rosé spaghetti.

There was plenty of shrimp and the sauce was generous, so there was nothing lacking when eating it together. When I eat pasta, I pay pretty close attention to how well the noodles are cooked — I like noodles that are properly boiled. And this time the noodles were cooked exactly to my liking, so I really enjoyed it. Eating the shrimp, rosé sauce, and noodles together, I never felt like the sauce was running short. Ordering the chop steak and pasta together made for a good combo to share between two people. There were plenty of plump shrimp in it too.

After dinner: a Songdo Beach walk and weekend busking

And here's another great thing about Plan A — Songdo Beach is right in front of it. After enjoying the meal, it was so nice to head straight out to the sea for a walk. With the cool breeze these days, walking felt great too.

Since I visited on a weekend, there happened to be some busking going on too. Eating, walking in the sea breeze, and then watching busking — the whole course turned out better than expected. You don't even need to look for anything extra since it flows naturally from restaurant → walk on Songdo Beach → busking, which makes it a great date course. Especially on a nice-weather day, visiting during daytime to eat with the ocean view and then walking along the beach afterward would be lovely.

Is parking easy at Plan A Restaurant?

Parking at Plan A Restaurant is possible on the street in front of the building, and there's also a public parking lot behind the building for convenient use. It's free parking too, so there's no need to worry about parking fees — a real plus. I was worried parking might be hard given it's right in front of Songdo Beach, but it turned out to be more convenient than expected.

Worth a visit if you're looking for dinner in Songdo, Pohang

These days there are a lot of restaurants around Songdo in Pohang promoting ocean views, but what stuck with me most about Plan A was being able to eat while looking out at the sea through the 4th-floor floor-to-ceiling windows. Going during the day would let you enjoy the ocean view properly. If you visit in the evening like I did, I'd also recommend walking along Songdo Beach after your meal.

As for the food, the chop steak and shrimp rosé spaghetti I ordered that day were satisfying overall. The chop steak was tender and mild-tasting, so I kept reaching for more, and with the salad and fries together it felt generous. The shrimp rosé spaghetti was great with plenty of shrimp, and the noodles were cooked just the way I like, so I enjoyed it a lot. Best of all, the meal wasn't the end — with Songdo Beach right there, it flowed naturally into a walk afterward. Running into busking on the weekend made for a pretty great course that day.
