Hannam sandwich shop, baguette or ciabatta: Dance Dance Dance

Back when the company I worked for in Gangnam bought a building in Hannam-dong for its headquarters, I commuted around this Hannam Five-way Intersection area all the time >.< But now I have a building owner in this super-enviable Hannam Five-way Intersection area as an acquaintance, so I have reasons to come to Hannam-dong again—so jealous haha

Anyway... I was peckish and thinking of grabbing a simple meal, and Dance Dance Dance Hannam, the amazing sandwich spot I had last time, has a Hannam-dong branch too?!! It is even a good restaurant by Hannam Five-way Intersection~ It was less than a few minutes’ walk from my acquaintance’s building, so it was also an easy place to meet up ^^

There was also a Dance Run event going on at the entrance, where you could get a coffee discount by verifying a run. I want to run too, but my body feels too heavy, so I do not think I will get the discount haha

Getting there from Hannam Station and Hannam Five-way Intersection

By subway, it is fairly close to Exit 1 of Hannam Station on the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. From the Olive Young at Hannam Five-way Intersection, walk a little way up the hill along the main road and you will see it.

Indoor seating and tables out front

Inside, there are only four bar-style seats for eating, so the tables in front of the shop are a good option too. The weather has been pleasantly cool lately, and it was nice eating in the shade out front ^^

Made-to-order sandwiches and merchandise

There were baguettes and ciabatta in the display case, and the staff made the sandwiches right after ordering. Dance merchandise was displayed along the wall too, with all sorts of things from T-shirts and mugs to hats.

Fall seasonal items and coffee

There were individual sandwiches and brunch items, and it looks like new seasonal menus come out depending on the season. Right now there is a fall fig matcha baguette, as well as the Dubai baguette that was such a huge trend for a while haha. They also had cold-brew canned coffee, and even the packaging was cute ^^

Why ordering takeaway was less of a hassle

I first took a seat at an outdoor table, but because I was not sure whether my acquaintance would eat, I ordered the sandwiches as takeaway. Sandwiches are served in paper boxes anyway, so ordering takeaway only adds a lid on top. If you might need to pack up while eating, ordering takeaway in advance is actually less of a hassle >.<

Which bread should you choose: baguette or ciabatta?

Baguette sandwich, ciabatta sandwich

For standard sandwich options, you can change the baguette to ciabatta for free, making it easy to choose based on your preference.

I personally prefer baguette, but texture is very much a matter of taste. So I ordered two baguette sandwiches and switched one from baguette to ciabatta.

The baguette was a good size for taking a bite from and was filled with Charcutier house-made ham, cheese, lettuce, and house-made sauce. I liked that the sauce was sweet-tangy and not salty.

A lot of ham sandwiches are quite salty these days, but the house-made ham in Dance Dance Dance’s baguette sandwich was not overly salty, and the sweet-tangy sauce made it feel fresher too ^^

If you like a crisp, chewy texture, go for the baguette sandwich. If you prefer something soft and springy-chewy, switch the bread to ciabatta like this—you can keep the filling you want and change only the bread, which is nice^^

I chose the safe, crowd-pleasing basic signature baguette sandwich, and as expected, it did not disappoint—such a good Hannam sandwich spot^^ There were too many people for me to look closely, but besides that, there seemed to be lots of more unusual baguette sandwiches, from tofu cream cheese onward. Dance Dance Dance Hannam would be a good place to visit when you want to try a new sandwich too!
